How were they installed??

@ Riddikulus5Gen:

Hello! Here are my five cents of advice from my own experience:

When I was ordering Excelsior (my 2010 CAMARO) I wanted to get Cyber Gray stripes from the factory.
Unfortunately at the time it was not an option GM was offering for my market. In fact I wanted a list of things that were not meant for my market but only available for US or CANADA bound CAMAROS.

My dealership came through however and found a viable solution which managed to get me a lot of the stuff in my wish list (my car is rather unique amongst the few CAMAROS imported here) save for the stripes and one other thing.

Being stubborn and not one to give up on my goals easily, I was set to order a set of the original stripes separatedly and have them installed locally.

Once more the guys at the dealership helped prevent a major mistake.

I was explained by the service dept. technicians that to make proper good finish, prevent the stripes decals from peeling off, and ensure that the decal color will not fade away faster than the car's original paint, a proper stripe installation shall be finished by applying a layer of clearcoat at least on the part of the car where the stripe decal was affixed.

That is "at least". A thorough job shall comprise a full layer of clear on all of the car.

The idea of risking carrying out a clearcoat job on a brand new car was more than my bravery allowed.

Even in a top paint shop there will always be risks:

1) A small impurity being trapped beneath the clearcoat. Correcting this, I can tell, is quite a job in itself.

2) Over spraying adjacent areas, which is specially troublesome if these areas are plastic ones.

3) Uneven application on a surface corner, bend or edge.

4) Flatspotting

So bear this in mind if you decide to remove the decals that came with car and install new ones.

Good luck !!

Safe riding,

The Flash

Sounds to me like you won't be satisfied until they are removed. Like you said, you can always put them back and I would have them painted on. But, you asked for opinions and I have to say that I like the stripes. To me, with stock rims and such, the stripes add a nice touch. If you customize the car with wheels, ground effects, etc., the Camaro looks better in a solid color.

Again, just my opinion.

Good luck on your decision.

The rally stripes are very common, just look at the replies everyone is telling you to keep them. If you want to be different do the fender stripes. I originally was going to get black rallys but changed my mind since everyone has them.

I like the stripes you have on it, but if you choose to remove them I would leave it clean and not apply the fender stripes.

Sorry I may not be reading this right, are you saying that there is no clearcoat under the stripes, or that there is clearcoat over them? You certainly could remove the stripes or apply new ones, though in either case you must know what you're doing as well as be careful.

I like the stripes as they are, but if your not sure...take em off!

I think the fender stripes in white or silver would look good, but take everything off and try it. If it doesn't work for you, try the fender stripes. If that doesn't work, at least you'll be sure which combo did. Lots of things we do to these cars are pissing away money but when you get yo your "vision", it will be worth it
If you go back to stripes, get them painted on.
