Ask your dealer for a build sheet they can get them through their gm global connect network. I bought mine used & they still pulled it up & printed it out for me along with all service records.Pretty nice to have.

The stickers on the front subframe, rear differential etc., are not date of manufacture, but usually really close, like within a day or two. What those tags show is the date and time those already manufactured parts are set aside for the build of a particular vehicle, hence why they have a VIN on them. That's how they keep track of the parts that go to each vehicle they build and what particular parts are needed for it. At each step of the build, before anything is installed on the chassis or subassembly, it is scanned so they know if it goes to that car, and to keep track of inventory etc.

Pretty close, but only way to know the actual day of manufacture is from the build sheet.

Yeah I had the dealer to pull my info today and the date on the tags was 12-18-2009 but the real build date was 12-21-2009 And the car sat on the dealer lot for 9 months before it was sold!! That was back when chevy had the heads in there a$$ and wanted over sticker for these cars.

My dealer is lame. VIN is 2G1FK3DJ8B9162405. Do you know any way to get what number it came off the line??? This is a convertible and I have the first one to hit the St. Louis area and would like to know that. If you can steer me in the right direction, I would appreciate it. email is randun50@yahoo.com. Thank you.

Just open the trunk and lift the mat. There is a sticker listing options and VIN on the left side of the trunk. To the right of the VIN is your 6 character workbench order number. Punch that number into Camaro tracking and you can find out the complete build timeline and options ordered on the car. The date stamped onto the sticker on the drivers door is also the correct build date. The yellow stickers on the front frame are the date these parts were assembled and may not be the actual date of manufacture. The car is not considered built untill the VIN goes on.(3800 status) Then it belongs to GM untill you sign for it even if you placed an order.
