I see there are more Mustang guys here trying to convince themselves they didn't make a mistake. Well NEWSFLASH!!! You made a HUGE mistake. LMFAO Seriously, if you are here to talk cars fine, but when you keep telling us how much better your car is than the Camaro, it is really obvious you have issues with your decision. If you want to bash the Camaro, it would probably better to do it on your Mustang site, where somebody actually gives a rat's ass as to what you think.

NHRAstocker ran a 12.58 in a stock LS3, it was a good while ago. I believe there is another 12.6X here too... not 100% sure.

I don't know if I would say he made a mistake. If he is intending on drag racing and modifying the 5.0, he picked a great base to start with. The transmission he has is sporting a 4.17 first gear ratio. You have to admit, that is pretty steep. He no doubt has to change the final gear ratio out from the 3.15's, not use on wasting money on the factory 3.73's (not that he could have anyway). He's got the solid rear axle that gives him the advantage over just about anything else that drag races. I was dead set on road racing, but after a couple of races, I was pretty excited about straight line racing again. He vehicle weight isn't that bad as he sits now, although he can do some weight reduction without spending any money... getting down into mid 3500lb range. The aftermarket is always going to be the determining factor of whether he made a bad choice or not. The aftermarket was pretty slow at first, now there are alot of incredible bolt-ons coming out and the prices are dropping pretty quick. He could probably reach 11s' with a Steeda CAI, SCT tune, 4.10s and some 555's or NT05's... There is the Boss intake that shows superior gains but its kind of pricey.

I check out a 2005 Mustang (in 2004), a 2007 GT500 (in 2007) and a 2010 Camaro (in 2009) and I have to admit, I am totally happy I waited for this car. I just hoped the prices for parts would come down faster.

i'm not dogging the Camaro but look how many guys there are that have 12.7 or better. less than ten, the average camaro runs low 13's, hell i just saw an 11 SS/LS3 today at the track and the best he could muster was a 13.53 and the air density was -500 feet. mph was 107 think what you like but the truth of the matter is.. STOCK the mustangs are FASTER. doesnt mean it's an all around better car, it's just faster

It's always a drivers race, the two fastest times recorded from both the Mustang and the Camaro was:

Mustang 12.58@112 with 3.31's and all season 18's
Camaro 12.58@110 with 3.45's

I heard a 5.0 went 12.53 but I can't remember who said that.. It was on here though.

Interesting...yesterday @ Great Lakes Dragway an 11' GT ran 13.9 @ 108.

I haven't drag raced in years, but my last two races were against LS3 5th Gens. In these cars, as long as you know your vehicle better than the other, you have a better shot at winning...

See, I agree 110% with you.

Problem is, others here ( who will remain unnamed ) seem to think that the new 5.0 will destroy any form of 5th gen Camaro.

Smart people know it's a drivers races...most of the " Mustang 5.0 will put buslengths on a 5th Gen " are former owners who seem to feel the need to justify their purchase by coming onto a CAMARO forum and trying to spew nonsense.

I was out at the track yesterday. A stock 5.0 ran a best of 13.4 @ 108 and my friends A6 SS ran the same time with a RF CAI and 200lbs. of subs and amp in the trunk. Just my observation.

Look at my statement above, yesterday I saw a 5.0 that couldn't run better than a 13.4. Still yet to see this all mighty 12 sec. car run a 12 sec. quater mile in person.
