so you DOnt have to scuff the wheels first, just wash and maybe an ISO wipe? Has anyone tried peeling it back off yet? And where is it available?

Supposed to be at ace hardware. I went to 3 stores and found only I can.

Anyone know if that's enough?

No. Just clean and spray. If you scuff them and want to peel it off the finish on the rim will be ruined.

so if I do this with the note cards around the outside and spray a coat, wait an hour, spray a coat, wait, will the edges rip up that are touching nearest the cards? Like someone had said, it peeled up when removing tape...just curious how to get around that aspect...

Thanks! awesome idea

Good question. I am also interested in doing this but have a few concerns.

I also thought of this. I actually touched up my rims with the plasti dip because i did it without tires on. then I got the tires mounted, and they ripped the plasti dip in some area's. On a slow day, I may rip it all off and start over with the tires still on.

Anyway, as I was touching them up, I just sprayed them with nothing taped off or using cards. Just sprayed it right on the rim and some overspray got on the tires. It wont hurt the tire. After it dried, I drove around and they started to peel off the tire. (I'm assuming it did this because of the flex of the tires while driving) Just finish peeling it off the tire, and you are good to go.

I was wondering if you could paint over this...I've been looking at getting a set of factory 20's for my LS & painting them black with an orange pinstipe....this would be perfect for that

Couldn't you just pull the cards after each application of plasti-dip? Then it wouldn't dry to them? I haven't done my spare set of rims yet, but was planning on trying that.

Just fyi, the pinstripe on the factory 20's will be VERY thin.

yes, that's probably a good option, if you want to keep putting cards back on after each layer.
