My BIG decision maker for my Camaro 2SS RS purchase was the option for an automatic. I too have a physical disability as do some others on here.

I have watched all of the late model SVO, SVT, Shelby and special edition Mustangs come and go, most of which if not all have been manual transmission equipped.
Just look at the market segment numbers for the SS automatic equipped cars and it is easy to see the potential to get more market share that has been ignored for an extremely long time now. But they went ahead to compete directly with the GT500 and pulled out the same page for market segment strategy that Ford used. Again, leaving out and ignoring the potential for sales growth of the automatic transmission consumer. It is just so frustrating to see this happen over and over again only to be denied each time.

I would have been a buyer had they made a SOLID announced commitment with the automatic as an option. I have waited long enough. My $$ is going some place else instead.

It would not cost anything to make considering the CTS-V already has the 6L90E auto option. Thinking about a ZL1 with a aftermarket stall and tune gives me goosebumps and would be a force to be reckoned with.
I said this when I came aboard this forum. But a lot of people in Chevrolet are old school. They do not want an automatic to go with high horsepower muscle cars even if the Challenger offers it since the 70s. Chevrolet for what ever reason has blinders on and just views what is going on with competition of the Ford's GT500 and trys to match or outdos just that model. Nothing else in the market place is taken into consideration by the marketing department of Chevrolet Camaro. It does not matter that most of the drivers are buying automatics. That is why the stock is now falling from it's IPO price of $33. It gone through 3 CEOs; 3CFOs since the government take over. It is giving rebates on almost all it vehicles. I glad I sold my GM shares at $38.

Well if they are putting an automatic in the ZL1, then they better put one in the Z06 and ZR1.

I understand your point, but GM already has a verified automatic for this particular powertrain in production. It would lower costs for the CTS-V while minimizing the cost of adding it as an option the ZL1. Plus, you have an advantage against competitors by being able to simply say, "We offer an automatic and the GT500 does not!"

Plus I can see a DCT in the future for the Z06/ZR1; Ferrari and Porsche already have a few vehicles with it!

I'm not a big fan of autos but I still voted to see it as an option. Why not?

That's what I'm talking about.
Doesnt mater if you want a manual or an auto. You
Could still vote yes. The more sales the better GM does.
Its a win-win situation.

Looks like I am in the minority here, but only making a manual transmission was one of my very favorite features of this car. This is a drivers car! Those with money to burn can still buy the car and have a shop shoehorn an auto in it so they can drive like (insert your own analogy here).

I voted to leave it as GM intended.

The Z06 and ZL1 are track cars the ZL1 is not. I view the ZL1 as an option for potential Corvette Grand Sport buyers who either don't want to spend the extra money, need the extra seats or just want something that isn't miserably uncomfortable as an everyday driver.

270 more votes to go! Keep em coming!!

I would opt for the manual, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't offer an automatic.
somebody might actually prefer one.

I am not against the idea of an automatic. The problem I have with the autos is that they modify the rest of the car so that production is easier and cheaper. Steering wheels that normally would be more ergo are not because they may have to hold paddles. Harness and extra connectors installed in cars and makes a nightmare for diag as you spend more time in the diagrams. The try to combine the two totally different cars so its cheaper to build. Thus ruining the manual cars. Then lets get into the tuning. What else are they going to do on top of the autos. Are they going to put DOD or VVT in the cars. We all know the disaster involved with trying to make more power in the current autos. LET ALONE TRYING TO TUNE IT!!

I currently think the car is amazing looking but dont get the price tag. You want a car that will smoke 90% of the cars out there, in an automatic, that gets better gas mileage and save 20 g's. Come see me on the build.

I SAY NO!!!
