Funny, considering the Flowmaster American Thunder is Stainless for our Camaro's.

Being that I work in the American Steel tubing industry I cant think of a statement that sends fire through my veins as this one.
Chinease anything steel is pure junk! Id put my entire years salary on the line to put my steel tubing up against china junk anyday.
you do get what you pay for and I do understand stainless being more desired, but there are plenty of american companies offering stainless for the same money.
do more homework

Here is what it sounds like with muffler delete and DT shorties. The OP can decide for himself if it's too raspy:

not to crazy...When you stomp on it it's there...Good luck with
your decision...

Stainless tubing maybe, but not headers.
I don't mind paying for better quality, but paying 3 times as much for a set of stainless headers is out of the question.

trust me, you get what you pay for.
I refuse to by a china made part if I have an option. the price may be lower, but at what point do you count how many times you have to rebuy the same part before you realize the china part isnt really cheaper?

I have installed dozens of stainless "china" headers on Camaros over the years and they all still look great and are performing flawlessly. I know most people think china stuff is crap and they are right for the most part, but not when it comes to the headers I have installed.

I'm curious which china headers or exhaust you have had such a bad experience with or are you just generalizing?

I'm in the Chicago area and it's my everyday driver. With the winters here the only choice in my mind was stainless. I went with the Borla S-type Cat-back.

I know people with the OBX headers have had some problems if im not mistaken. Could be wrong though.

I am just generalizing with my knowledge of their steel products that compete with mine. They dont pass the same safety standards that they are required, which is why there has been a big step in by the govt....
now on a stainless header, maybe they are comparable, but to be honest. I work hard to earn my money from an american company. Im glad to spend it on a product from another american company which is paying another hard working american to make it.
I will admit, I am biased though. But I still would think there are other options close in price.
cheaper is not always better.
if you have had good luck, that is a good thing. Im just not willing to risk that if I dont have too

I just installed the flowmaster AT catback this past weekend on my SS and absolutely LOVE it... I think the sound is perfect. This is how a camaro should have come from the factory...

Isn't buying a $35-40k car, then going cheap on mods kind of like buying an Armani suit and then a tie from Walmart? Don't skimp, you may be sorry in the long run.

Exactly. Don't skimp on your mods, a muffler delete? C'mon, at least buy some flowmaster's and put on there. I deleted the mufflers on my GTO and I cannot stand the way it sounds, its horrible. There is zero tone...only loudness. Pay 150 bucks for some FM's, and take it to a muffler shop, and they will weld them for 50 bucks. Sound way better and it will be a little more quiet. Would you delete mufflers on a Z06? They are around the same price now. Its called tasteful modding. Not trying to bash anyone but it is cheap.
