All good. Now that the fest is over I feel much less bad about not being there.

I hear my jersey had a good time though.

careful how you use that word "free". "You keep saying that word. I don't think it means what you think it means."

Yep. Most times better...............except in traffic jams. But not happy enough for your South Park reference. LOL

Please do not taunt the moderators with beer. This can be particularly dangerous after a successful Fest.

Don't work too hard. Hopefully you get that car very soon.

You would be very correct...

However...it's difficult to get to it when a rather large gentleman is sleeping on your shoulder and you happen to be in a window seat on a 737....

I believe it's been a while since the Z28 was mentioned here. I posted this in the Z28 section, but I respect the thoughts in this portion of the forum most, so here goes.

The more I read and hear about the Boss, I really believe Ford hit the nail on the head. The engine is very forward in its engineering (perfect for the track, or a canyon carving weekend), it even looks like a show piece. The car's stats are perfect (if your a track corner carving guy). The exhaust way too cool. And the "Track Key" unbelievable! Even the price $40K is good value.

Why don't I buy one?

The problem is that I'm a Camaro (Z28) guy not a Mustang guy. So... GM I and numerous others look forward to your response to this really great production car.

p.s. I do like the ZL1, however it is going to be too expensive and over the top for me.

I see the Boss as a great exercise in performance engineering...and a wonderful success in gimmick-marketing, which is Ford's forte...When all the hype stripped away, I don't find it at all impressive.

And the "track key" irritates me beyond compare...if you can do it...DO IT! Don't make the customer pay extra to tap the potential already engineered into the car. I don't at all agree with Ford's "option everything" philosophy...

Nevertheless...the Boss Mustang puts up good numbers, and it's surely made some waves...

But I can't wait to see the ZL1 smear it across the pavement...

First let me repeat I'm a GM Camaro fan.
However that being said how is the Boss gimmicky if it puts down great numbers?
And the ZL1 is a very different car. It will also cost at least $10K more. No doubt it's more car, but it cost more as well.
And the track key is brilliant, why? It allows a way around the mileage scenario, yet offers great performance when needed. Think about it.

GM 1 up the Boss. I dare you.

Because it's a GT with new shocks. They've done work to it, but the work other manufacturers do to their cars vastly overshadow the powdering Ford gave this particular Mustang...exaggerated on my part? Yes...but I can't get the point across any other way.

Agreed.

I think it's ridiculous. Apparently the manual has an encyclopedia of warnings and caveats comparable only to Nissan if you use it. I can't confirm this having not read it myself...but I've heard it from someone I trust...

Regardless...I don't agree at all with engineering the upgraded tune into the car, and then forcing the customer into paying for it extra like it's something special. As far as mpg...perhaps...but their changes shouldn't be enough to change it significantly...and if it does, that's their problem to fix, not hide it behind a key. They still must pass emissions, so that's not an issue, either.

And on a personal level - I just don't want to be fiddling with another key...

The Boss is a good car. I will never deny that. However, it is very much a Ford in that it's surrounded by a 'cloud of gimmick' to make sales, just like EcoBoost.

I have to hand it them because if Chevy produced a Camaro that had the same stats for $40K it would be in my garage right now, and I have the cash right now ready to go whenever they do!
