So a jet engine is 10^8 times louder than a car exhaust?
I don't know how they work lol. That's just what I saw on some charts I found.

I don't get this. Can you explain the whole concept behind cutouts...any performance benefit? And can you possibly take a quick picture of your cutouts?

You're installing a butterfly valve that opens the exhaust up right behind the cats. This does two things

1. Lessens air restriction, increasing HP and torque because the exhaust isn't going as far through tubing and doesn't go through muffs

2. Makes it LOUDDDDDDD

Not at all. You guys really aren't grasping this. These go just after the cats, way before the mufflers. When you open them, you are by passing everything downstream, like the mufflers.

The only thing that would affect the sound of these would be headers.

Pay up
70db might be at idle, it could go up to over 100 at full throttle. depending on the system.

and your conversion is all wrong. the quietest sound is obviously 0db (near dead silent). 10 times more than that is 10db. 100 times near silent is 20db and 1,000 times more is only 30db.

So technically, he could still be right, and you would lose.

I figured it was powers of ten! Yeah I think my little bet would still hold up haha

Cut outs sound wise can literally be terrifying to those that are used to a quiet Stock Honda Civic exhaust.

Normally I wouldnt post pics because its pretty easy to imagine lol. In this case I will though because many muffler shops will tell you they CANT get them in everywhere other than right before your mufflers, making them useless.

Cut outs are only effected by what the piping is before them.
