Fact of the matter is the stock LS3 engine was underbuilt for the SS it could have been built up a bit better with internal and accessory parts to match it to a GT500, but GM chose to go halfway. All, it would have took was better internals and air flow. I have 550hp. currently, and only a CAM (and accessories race rocker, dual springs, and rods), Headers, exhaust and a decent tune. That puts the SS and GT500 at about par considering the SS is a bit heavier.
IMO, the ZL1 is just a label; It's a Camaro with better engine parts, an SC and some suspension upgrades, the frame, body, engine, and most likely the tranny will all be the same.
i understand that nobody needs a zl1 to beat a whatever. dude, the point for me is i would love to see 2 stock supercars battle it out. that's all im saying - sounds like not only a lot of others on this forum get that, but agree too. you just throwing up 'my 750 ss will beat your blah blah blah' is off topic and just ignorant. then you go off on a rant about the ss engine being underbuilt.... go mod your camaro or something..

According to Al Oppenheiser, one third of the parts on the ZL1 are unique to the ZL1. Therefore, I wouldn't characterize the ZL1 as just a label. It's a high performance factory Camaro that will have been completely validated and will come with a factory warranty.

Cool thing is regular SS getting suspension upgrades & frame tweak

Okay. Say, what you want, but I have an opinion too considering I bought one of these cars. Why is it off topic? Still a Camaro dude. Go have a temper tandruff some place else.
And, for folks that are doing mods on their vehicles we're some of the most knowledgeable about the Camaros considering we've researched many of the aftermarket parts out there. There's only so much GM can do on their own without goign to the aftermarket for parts. Case and point the OEM Hurst shifter. That's a Hurst product GM chose to put in the 2011 models.
This is a free forum I have just as much of a right to comment on here as you are. So, why don't you go and take your Mustang someplace else. Before, I show you what my mods will do to your ass.

You better stay on the strip because you are screwed if there are any of those...oh what are they called...oh ya TURNS.

P.S - Chevy tested this thing against the latest GT500. You don't stand a chance.

poor baby - talk about temper..

youll be okay though - you just missed the point of my thread and i dont care to explain it further.

more rant about mods?

it is a free forum - so that's why i posted here . i ask you stay on topic though - zl1 stats (which you have posted none - but rather your ss mods), weight, hp rating, etc. as it pertains to drag racing. i think youll catch on here eventually..

i didnt mean to get under your skin .

btw - was that last statement a threat - your moderators here dont tolerate that too well from what i understand - expect a warning.

Even if the ZL1 ends up with 600+ HP, its still going to be a drivers race. Only if both drivers manage a perfect launch will you be able to give credit to the car for the win.

But, it will be awsome to see what the ZL1 and the new GT500 (or whatever it turns out to be) for 2013 run when they are driven to their potential. Thats what will end up being the "online trash talk" material.
True...however if you are going up against an auto ZL1 the GT500 owner better be perfect every time.

Proof that GT500s can't go around turns worth anything?

look at mustang and camaro
both underrated...

In the CTS-V the engine makes more power to the grough then the 2011 GT500 so hoping with lighter weight of a ZL1 it will be able to win if magazines arent too bias..

Was that a 1/4 mile run on the dyno? Never seen some one do that, LOL.

yes, post proof of what your saying - you stated it, prove it with a link, an article, a video, something. otherwise its just talk. the gt500 cant go around the track worth anything compared to what - a ss? actually for 2010 the gt500 is much more balanced and a better track car than a drag car.

also, just to state - i never said anything about a track - but a drag strip.

Think what you want. I don't care if you don't see the correlation to mods or the ZL1. If you start doing your research you'll notice that the 1/3 parts that are being upgraded on the ZL1 are all aftermarket parts that will become GM OEM. Basically, like I said the ZL1 will be a Camaro with aftermarket parts and yes "under" warranty. That's it that's all. Regarding moderation, who care's I don't pay to use this site. Delete whatever you want.
Only a moron insults others when they don't agree with their opinion. You're the one being an immature baby because your not initelligent to see the correllation in what I'm saying. Have fun with your Mustang racing ZL1's.
