No way. This stuff is thin and not as impact resistant. I've only seen this stuff in black anyway but it is paintable. Getting clear bra asap would be the best thing to do.

Painted my grille with it at the beginning of the week....came out great. Just masked off what I needed to, did two coats and its on there pretty good. Looks good, basically a perfect match to the rest of the flat black on my car. I've attached some pics. Also tinted my turn signals red while I was at it. Love the way that looks too with the black grille and red car. Here ya go:

Did you paint your grill with plasti dip? That looks bad even in the second pic I can see all the flaws. You might as well have painted it flat black with real paint for the same price as a DIY plasti dip spray.

I really didn't think this mod was going to be as popular as it has been. Haha.

I think tinting your turn signals red is a no no. It is here in Tx. Don't know about New York. Looks cool tho.

Awesome, I congratulate you on having bigger balls than me. I've wanting to do that to my car for 2 months now. I was too chicken to try it lolol.

How did you mask off the edges? With painters tape? Did you use one coat or two coats?

I have a black SS and I'm planing on laying down some white plasti dip on my front GFX.

Thanks for the info and courage to try it.

Even the overspray droplets came off easily. Think of this stuff like elmers glue from elementary school. Gets all over and makes a mess (if you let it) but peels right off after it dries. Look at my pics. After this test I feel confident enough to spray it on anything.

the 'flaws' you see came out with some cleaning and wiping down, they were just from the dust and dirt on my body clips for the grille. hard to line up without them touching. the plastidip comes out perfect, i would have had the same trouble sanding and painting it. just got to be careful. Thankfully, I was able to fix it on the car as it was mostly dirt. and the stuff on the middle of the grille was from me not accounting enough for over spray, but the beautiful thing is plastidip just peels off hahaha so it looks fine now, couldnt see the blemishes in a cell phone pic

And yes, red turn signals is likely a No, No, her in NY too, but I already have tints so they'll likely write me up for that without ever noticing the signals...just gotta take a chance for what ya think looks good

Lol! No Prep? No Prime? $7 dollars a can? Can be removed easily? Dries quickly? Im not seeing the downfall. If I have to redo a wheel or two once every few months, Id say its totally worth it.

Elaborate!
For the price, ease with which it can be applied and taken off you can't beat this stuff

I just used the blue painters tape. I did one thick coat. This was mostly an experiment to see how it goes on and sprays before I do anything serious. I was completely like "OMG wtf am I doing!" but when it peeled off and cleaned up smooth I just laughed. To be honest I would tape off the edges between each coat because they can lift the Plasti dip if it dries to the tape.
