Doesn't matter to me. A 5th Gen is a 5th Gen. SS or V6.

We are still a group. they still look awesome

I would rather pay a bit more for the SS to off set the profit lost by them selling low end models, to me it would be worth the premium in brand and resale value. Right now the Camaro's resale value is fantastic that isnt going to be the case as the used markets starts to fill up.
If there are more v6's out there, the only market who's value will be diluted is the v6 market value. The V8 will be only by the numbers out there on the secondary market.

Truth is, there's going to be a big market out there for V6 power in this package and there's many more numbers that can be sold to a broader target market in the lower price category.

Those V6 buyers are making the SS and ZL1 much more affordable for those that are looking to pick up the SS and ZL1 models as they continue to contribute to the bottom line of GM / Chevy so they can keep making these cars. Same goes for the Cobalt, and just about all other models Chevy is making... well, except for the Volt. Volt buyers, WHAT ARE YOU THINKING?!? ROFL...

So ... get out there and thank a V6 buyer! They are keeping GM alive as we all are.

Let's see, the 1st gen had a choice of 2 inline 6's, a couple versions of a 327, a 327 with a 283 crank coupled with a few other goodies (302), a 350, at least a couple of 396s, and in COPO land, a 427. I can just image the rounds those guys were going on their forum.

South Florida, a dealer ... shall remain nameless... $48,000 sticker on a v6 convertible and it had a $5,000 additional "limited availability" markup.

I just ain't going near the 50K mark on a V6 convertible camaro... Maybe not all dealers are doing it... but I was floored.

The V8 is for people that really want the power. But mostly, in day to day, it's a waste IMO. Insurance, gas, and pricing, is it really worth it just to say I have the V8? But for most, having the roar and little extra means alot. More power to them, it's their money.

When I bought my V6, the only person I thought of was myself. What I could afford and what I wanted. Most of the flack I've gotten for having a V6 was from one power hungry friend who never owned a sports car. Most people for dogging you for not having a V8 will probably never own one anyways. It's that group of people that look at magazines and wish they had the best car. I chose a 300+ hp sports coupe. And I'm happy.
Darn right!

Some guys like to have the best performance option in a model. Some just like to have the "look" of the model and are quite content with whatever engine is in it.
Well i live in texas so lambos are not so popular here lol but that wasnt the point the point was that when you really think about it a camaro really isnt that expensive and if you really wanted to have that special car that no one else had you should of wrote a bigger check!

and i agree with what you said about what people want but what im saying that in most cases the ss really isnt necessary to the average person so why waste the extra 15k!

I bought my camaro 2lt/rs fully loaded with a flowmaster and an intake it has an ss fascia and everything! It looks just as good if not better then any ss ive seen here in the dallas area so if you ask me the 15k diffrence was not worth the extra hp to me!

That being said, I don't consider myself better, but I do consider the car FASTER, more POWERFUL, and sweeter SOUNDING than the V6. Those of us that got the V8 paid for the better version of the car. Doesn't make us better...but it would be silly to say that the V6 is a "better" car than the V8. It's a more affordable, higher milage version, yes. And, by that criteria, a Prius is a better car than the Camaro. That's not how I judge the Camaro...it's a muscle/sports car. Faster is better. Modded is better. And, the V8 -is- better.

I love that people are able to get the V6. But lets not kid ourselves. The V8 is what EVERYONE looks for when asking about this car. Look at all the posts about the V6 people trying to "justify" the V6 to people by saying it has 312 horsepower. I've never EVER had to justify my V8 purchase to anyone. I get asked, and when I tell them I have the V8, the response is always "Good Choice" or something similar.

I never have knocked those that got a V6...it's still a Camaro, and an awesome car. But comparing the two is like comparing raisins to oranges. You really -can't- compare them.
Well said, only time I ever have an issue is when I'm cruising and a V6 wants to try and race me - like they got something to prove... Oh well, they ain't paying my gas! LOL

It isn't the V8/SS owners who think we are better than the V6/LT/LS guys. It's the idiot (econobox/minivan/insert other random vehicle) people who make comments.

It's easy to throw stones when you live in a completley different house. The first question I always get about my car is "Is that the one with the V8?"

Personally I couldn't care less what others drive. A Camaro is a Camaro. Plain and simple. I wanted the V8 for the sound and the gobs of tire spinning torque. Who am I to say I'm better? There are guys with maggies and other power boosters here on their SS'..... Are they better than the guys with stock LS3/L99's? How about the Oracle turbocharged LS that makes over 500 hp?

The who is "better" contest will always be won by the guy/gal with deeper pockets. And as far as automobiles go; Better is a relative term. Your V6 is a "better" daily driver than my SS, for example. Veteran1 is a "better" showcar than my SS. For me, my SS is "better" than anyone else's Camaro. Why? Because it's MINE <3.

Most of the haters are jealous dickbags who wish they weren't stuck driving what they have. My fiancee had a friend that saw a pic of my car and said.... "That's not a V8! He got the ***** version" (Red SS emblem was clear in the picture) She says no, I got him the V8. He says "Oh, well what does it do zero to 60?" She replies "4.6 seconds." His answer: "Shit that's kind of slow for a V8." She says.... "Oh? What do you drive?" His reply.."2005 Toyota Camry...."

Discussion over.

Don't let haters get to you. You bought your car for personal reasons. If you don't like it, then get a V6/V8/V12/Bugatti.

No dealer markup here. Availability isn't all that great but I was very fortunate to get exactly what I wanted. I didn't wait for the car to get to the dealer I purchased it before delivery.

I love my V6, I just wish I would have got the SS from the start. It's kinda like a subwoofer.... it hits really hard when you first get it, but then you get used to it and keep wanting more bass. Well, that is where I'm at with my V6. I came from a Ford Ranger and when I got in the V6 the power was awesome. Now, I'm used to it an are craving more.

With that said...

I am not bitter, I don't look down at someone driving an LS because I had the money for the RS. If gm only made the camaro a V8 they would have a very small amount of sales and would have to abort the camaro all together. you should be thankful to all those who support the camaro wether it be a v8 or v6 because together we keep the brand afloat. besides these wimpy v6 cars do have the power that v8's were putting out just a couple years ago.
