if the same pricing structure applied in 1969 (and it might): The 69 SS cost $3,500 in todays dollars thats abut $36,000. The 1969 ZL1 cost $7,500 in todays dollars that would be about $76,000.

Will it be $76,000? Im betting it will be within 8% of that number.....

I sure hope that this is the case, the problem is what will the dealer markups be?

not if it is going to compete with the GT500 (which is its main target according to the GM guys)

Taking a complete butt head approach to the topic one could say:

"Its a super car - a dangerous hunk of iron in the wrong kind of driver's hands. Having a high price on such a dangerous thing will not only limit the number on the street; but, will also ensure those that can afford the beast will have the means for restitution should a problem arrise; at the very least placing a high price on such a thing should lead to premium behavior placed within it"

...and $50K isn't a high enough price to limit who buys it?

Nope, 50k is not sufficient to limit buyers. Especially not with financing available. We'll see bazillions of them out there at 50k in my opinion.

That's great. I love Camaros, and I will love my ZL1 the most. When I see a Camaro I call the color & hit my wife's arm. I have promised to stop doing that when I'm driving my own.

Seriously though, if GM makes a bazillion of these, that's going to be increased market share, and that can only mean that they get the message of what We the (Camaro) People really want and will spend our $$ on.

A bigger number also means more aftermarket goodies for those who can never leave well enough alone. If you want something no one else has, then you can mod yours and it will be yours alone.

Otherwise, if you just want something that no one else has, get yourself a Lotus or a Turbo Yugo or some-such.

theres a difference marking up a mustang boss which is a limited edition car compared to marking up a NON limited ZL1

There's not going to be any ZL1 markups.

I....have to disagree. Otherwise there'd be millions of CTSs out there and not a single Malibu. Unless by "bazillion" you mean 5-9k units. In that case, I agree.

There'll be a few dealers who smack a "market adjustment" on their allocated cars, unfortunately. It's up to us to refuse to pay it.
