Finding and aftermarket friendly dealer would be best. However baring that the law states that the break must be tied to the mods. Of course then you are talking about taking legal action which would be expensive and slow.

How exactly would one go about finding out if your dealer is "mod friendly"? Who would you have to ask? And what would you have to ask?

In the meantime, I'm just gathering as much info as I can. There seem to be 2 theories: 1. There is a missing bearing. 2. There was a batch of shafts that did not receive the proper heat treatment. One member has posted that he has a 2011 and his car doesn't have a bearing. And like you said, the current cars don't have a problem, that really hurts Theory #1. My failure analysis results will confirm or disprove Theory #2. I'm just trying to be thorough and be sure that the 'missing' bearing did not contribute to the failure.

1. At what level di 'GM' deny your warranty claim? 2. On what grounds did GM deny your claim? |

I'm a big fan of your work. To answer your questions: 1. Dealership said it wouldn't be covered. Called GM customer assistance. They couldn't help. Called GM executive office. They stood their ground. I've filed a claim with the BBB and arbitration should begin next week. 2."Your warranty is void because there have been modifications done to the car." - Jeanne Crawford, GM Expert Executive

Well, the BBB is getting the arbitration hearing scheduled for my warranty denial. I told the BBB case worker that there is some information that I need from GM prior to the hearing. He told me to write a letter requesting the info. Wonder if I'll get the answers?

Dude,
You modded your car. ![]() You're outputshaft broke because of the added stress. It's commonly known that the output shaft is a weak spot. Why spend all that money modding it, and not upgrade it? Worst of all why are you asking for GM to replace or fix it? I can tell you right now, it's not going to happen. |

I have an earlier VIN car. I have a system on my car that I am afraid to use because of this issue that is KNOWN. It does not matter if it is modded or not in my eyes. Kinda like if when you turn on the A/C and it blows bubbles in your car, just don't turn on the A/C OK. I for one would like to know if my car was affected by the earlier problems or was mine built after they fixed the issue. I do not race, but I wold at least like to see what this sytem is all about, what it will do etc...... But since it was modded I am less likely to not knowing if my car was affected from the beginning. If my car is in the range of VIN affected then GM should fix it BEFORE it breaks and not use some bean counter method to determine if it cost effective to fix or not. Either way I for one would like to know what range of VIN number were affected. JMO

Bottom line is, if you are going to modify to that level, make sure the weak points are taken care of. There are too many variables to ascertain whether the Maggie did in fact not cause the break. |
