Every dealer has a different philosophy but for now, I would think there are very few dealers doing GMS, GSU, college grad, military, dog of the month, etc. discount pricing.
The dealer I went through allowed GMS in writing but only after he considered that he had 6 other sold orders at MSRP plus it helped that he is a good friend of my family member that ordered.

Got it but it's a rare circumstance.

....this is still not directly answered....although it sounds like a "no".

So why does GM advertise it, and not the individual dealers since they are the ones eating it?
Here is how it works:

Example MSRP $35000

Supplier Price $33800 (very close to invoice)

If dealer sells car at MSRP, he makes the $1200 profit.

If dealer sells at Supplier price, he loses the $1200 as profit.

The dealer gets a 2% (minus $150) for handling a Supplier, Coll. Grad, Military, etc. from GM.

Bottom line is an MSRP deal he makes the profit. If he sells it at the lower price, GM does NOT reimburse him for profit lost.

I think that's clear.

RPO, since I ordered before the mark-up, my sticker should still reflect the above price by GM because of the price protection, correct?
The sticker reflects the pricing when the car is produced, not ordered. Delaer gets reimbursed for the difference at invoice price to cover their loss.

So what you're saying is the dealer gets money back from GM to cover the difference in THEIR invoice price at the time of ordering versus the time of delivery? And I guess I'm to assume then that it's up to the dealer if they want to pass those savings on to the customer for the difference in MSRP. If that's the case, I could essentially get shanked by the dealer, who would essentially be making more money off of me and GM and I lose out. And if that's the case, what's the point of ordering at MSRP early on? That situation makes the early ordering price protection seem pretty much non-existent... Sorry if I seem upset. I'm very grateful to you, RPO, for all of your help, and if I'm missing anything, please correct me. It's all still a little confusing at times. I just don't want to lose money when I essentially thought I was getting a certain price by pre-ordering a car I still have yet to even see.

When orders were originally taken back in October, there was no way to know if there was even going to be price protection. I know we did all of our orders at MSRP at time of delivery. We never put a price in writing because if there were no price protection and then the price changed, the dealer wouldn't be able to recoup the difference. In other words, if I committed to a price of $36500 in writing and then GM raised the price (because they can) to $37,900, who was gonna eat the difference? Us? If there was no price protection, we would be out the difference. We weren't taking the gamble. So, our customers agreed to MSRP at time of delivery. If the difference is minimal, we will reimburse the customers once we receive the money from GM.

All good points, and it certainly makes sense. Thanks again!

I was actually under the assumption that GM was providing the price protection and the window stickers on early orders would reflect the price protection??

therefore, no issue with the dealer

That was my impression to; the sticker is supposed to reflect the R6P code, hence the "original" pricing.

Unless I missed something somewhere else, the R6P code only indentifies the order as an early order and that's it. It generates the Welcome Kit but nowhere have I seen it reference price protection. I'm not saying I'm not wrong I just haven't seen that anywhere. The screen shot above is what I received and it was dated March 5th.

Also, I highlighted (with my cheesy red arrow) that CGM is NOT AVAILABLE. That doesn't mean limited. It means ZERO. For how long I don't know and the wording is very vague.

Just another note on price protection.

When the dealer receives the car and the final invoice, it always reflects the CURRENT pricing. A price increase is exactly what it is and the dealer must pay the invoice with the new pricing. Has anyone seen any official document referencing price protection on Camaro? If so, please post the link here or send it to me via PM.

Thanks.

Here's the latest event history for our beloved 2SS.

We really should give the car a name that we can refer to her by.

Any suggestions??

Well, like FBod said, it should be a dude name especially the SS. I vote for Johnny...because of all the Little Johnny jokes and how he gets in trouble all the time.
