If most people here don't park up close anyway, why worry about how many spaces anyone takes up that does park close? What, now we need parking lot police? I don't worry about it much because I don't park close regardless of what I'm driving. You just have to guage your risk every time you drive/park in public.

This doesn't make any sense to me.
Some places have parking lot police... I was waiting to meet a friend once, way in the back of the lot. Yes, I was double parked - I was in the car, engine running, windows open, and a security officer came up and told me to move my car or get a ticket... It could happen. I moved over 6 inches, and within 5 minutes, someone came and parked RIGHT next to me. I moved before they even had a chance to open the door and ding me... Never parking in THAT lot again!

Any person doing damage to a car because of the way someone else parks well they are just spiteful! So am I a DOUCHEBAG? Maybe just leave my car alone and everything will be fine . Just my 2 cents and the next time you walk out to your car and you have a door ding, ah no big deal . It's only a car, it's only transportation. Well it's someone else's property it. I'm off the soapbox thanks for listening.

This. I don't care if you park your shitty 92 Dodge Grand Caravan and take up 6 parking spots up front right near the door... the thought would never even cross my mind to do any damage to your vehicle (even if it's beat to hell already). Leave you a nasty note? Maybe. But in the end, what good is either one going to do? Leave my shit alone!

I've never understood the mentality of "you've got a nice car" or "I don't like the way you parked" so I'm going to key it! Does it make you feel better? Really? Are YOU that much of a douchebag that my harmless parking (or simply envy) now needs to cost me money? What lesson did you teach me? Nothing. I'm still going to do it, only now I'm park in front of surveillance cameras and in well lit areas so I can catch your ass next time and teach you that the punishment did not fit the crime.

People are ridiculous. But I'm not going to rethink my vehicle ownership because the average American has an IQ just slightly above mentally handicapped.

For those saying it's only a car.... just hop in your Kia and peddle home. These are Camaros, a car bought due to an emotional attachment. Why would we spend this kind of money and time to just shrug off door dings?

I gotta find a paintless dent repair guy now..... Thanks, you fuggin morons!
My point exactly.

Im guilty as well, Ive even had the occassion to abort a trip to the mall when the parking lot was "too crowded" and I could not find a space more than 3 car lengths distance from the nearest vehicle.

I try my hardest to avoid parking next to anyone. If not to save myself from vandalism, its that the doors are so long its a PIA to get out if the space too tight. Such as in my garage. Ive actually started to consider vertical doors as a matter of practicality.

I have issues xD

I also pathologically dust my car when it sits outside more than a few hours before driving it. I get wierd looks at the beach when returning to the parking lot. Haha.

I wouldn't go so far as calling it Douchebaggery but I agree when people park like that they are just asking for the real douchebags to f$ck with their car. I've been parking up front in single spots since I bought my car 1 1/2 years ago, not so much as a door ding.

That pickup WAS showing respect - to the white one on the left!

I think, for the most part, if you double park way out in the back 40 you're only trying to protect your vehicle because you're not really putting anyone else out. However, I feel if you double park as close to the store as possible you're a social misfit who is lazy, inconsiderate, selfish, thoughtless, and D-Bag loser who's car should turn into a shopping car magnet.
