And it would help your case if you got another dealership with a similar color/trim/etc to make you an offer as well, with a vehicle on their lot right now. I had found 5 SGM LS's with the M6 in a 50 mile radius of my apartment, so I never went in to haggle a low price without knowing I could get a better deal elsewhere, and have the quotes from the other dealers to show it. Im not a great haggler either, so I said "they are offering me X, can you beat it?"

Had one dealership realize this and ask me what my "guarantee" price was, where I'd drive up and sign right away instead of shopping them against other folks. Told them 19.5 and I'd buy from them immediately. They wish-washed, said they'd get back to me but they couldn't drop the price much because they bought the car "from a show".

Ended up paying 20,800 for my little LS from a different dealership, whose staff really went above and beyond and whom I really liked.

So don't think you need super haggling skills, you just need leverage.

I'm guessing the $1700 extra you got for your trade is coming from the amount over invoice. So it's not as bad as it sounds.

Thats not a good deal. One and Half or Two years ago yes. Now, NO. I custom ordered mine and got it under MSRP, It took 2 hours but I did.

The Important thing is you got what you wanted.

Still flipped, not by 4300, but by 2300. Im uneasy going back there and shutting them down, and them just ending up being a dealership who focuses on profit per car, and the hard inquiry via credit check was wasted cause the just let go. =/ feeling facepalmed ATM. But the insights are very helpful. There GM was actually the only person who called me, initially, that and an online sales rep. I wonder if he'd know about any other incentives, or if they could work lower on the cars price since 2012s should be coming soon. (?) That and where I did get more than originally offered for my trade, I still feel a little like I caved early. =/ Yours guys info is really helpful.

Edit: In there hunt for my car, the found dealer X with it, one of well 1 place that "had" it. Dealer X ended up being one of the dealerships i checked out online. They got kinda pissy, apparently, and wouldnt trade it to Dealer A because I went to them, vs Dealer X. The dealership im at (A) kinda made me sound like I was a dick for looking anywhere else for a car. /shrug

Enjoy the new car, they probably gave you more for the trade so they didn't take as much off the price of the car.

I would wait a few months too... the 2012s roll in soon and they will want to push of 2011s. They can't use that garbage "market adjustment" terminology they used when this car first came out. While it was garbage, it was the new, hot car. It still is in a sense (especially to us), but they aren't rare enough in this market to demand MSRP. These dealerships need to sell...

However, do what YOU think is acceptable. If you feel MSRP is... go for it, don't let us make you regret your purchasing.

Just buy one from BeckyD@RodgersChevrolet, she is a member on here and she is extremely nice.

She will honor all discounts and many members on here have bought cars from her. She also owns 2 camaros, so she knows the love.

Right now you have not signed enough to really make yourself in a commitment. Like said above, the final financing paper is the one that counts. Walk away and talk to Becky, she'll get you a much better deal

Congrats, buy what you want, when you want. Don't let anyone sway you any different. Bottom line, so long as you're happy(you're the one footing the bill). Wanna see pics too.
