I got a response to an old email today from Vararam. It said they were going to ship this week. I already installed my CAI Inc. intake so it's a little late for me, but good news for all you guys!!!

I'm kind of curious as to how this product is being manufactured that they can't hammer out a quantity of 100 of them to immediately fulfill the group buy as well as the distributor orders?
I mean... seriously?! Is there a guy sitting there with a cardboard mold and wrapping these things by hand with a can of fiberglass or something? I'm not being negative Nancy here, but I think this is a realistic question.

ronlslo, you got 20's on your ride? I cant really see on the video. How hot was it when you took that video? Today my radio displayed 101F. I was gunning on the same little back road that I sometimes use before I reach home, I didnt wot because I didnt want to go too fast but with throttle about halfway I took it up to about 6000rpm, than I hit 3rd at about same throttle, came to a little small bend and at about 3500rpm my rear broke loose!!
![]() I never had this happen before e85. This is with all traction on. I also have summer pirellis on stock 20's where it suppose to give more grip as hotter it get. I guess this validate my butt dyno even more. I can't wait to get that VR in and get it tuned. Its going to be a scary ride, in a good way of courseGood job ronlslo!

The more power I add to the V6, the better it gets. With 20x9 and 275s all around, my car is more balanced than ever. No understeer and plenty of right foot steering control now. Resisting the temptation to add LTs...![]() Talking with Patrick@Vararam, he said he'd take on 4th gen LS1's and 5th gen L99's with my car right now and not be concerned unless they had done mods. He said with the way my car handles and accelerates right now, that this is the way the SS should have been from the factory instead of feeling like it's nearly 4000 lbs. We've compared notes between my car and his Corvette (400+hp, 450+lbft) and other than the serious torque differential between the two, they are both equally fun at legal road speeds.

aren't the RS wheels staggered, like the SS wheels? 20x8 245 in the front and 20x9 275 in the rear? or did you buy two rear wheels to put up front?

Besides, the front 20x8's just looks overwhelmed by the front wheel well opening. The 20x9's helped resolve that by moving the wheel face out just a bit and allowing for a tire about an inch wider.

There are couple of disadvantages to this setup....
First, the 20x9's and 275s weigh a few lbs more than the stock front setup, so you would be increasing unsprung weight. I don't notice it but mass is mass and I'm sure it's killing performance somewhere for me. Second, 275's cost a bit more than 245's. Minor issue but depends on how often you go through tires. A plus is that you can now rotate front to back to even out tire wear. Other than those things, I can't think of any other reasons not to go with this setup. Well, other than getting your hands on an extra set of rear wheels. I was lucky and picked up a local super low mileage set (4) for $400 and then sold off all four of the 20x8's to random people on here for $100 each. I came out even in the end. Worked out well for me.

Talked to Vararam, they said the intake should start shipping Thursday. The new design is 100% done, and in production now.
