It is a chip... not a white mark. I look at it every day to verify that it hasn't gotten bigger.

I brought it to their attention the day after the purchase... it's now day 5. :(
The dealership is an hour away and there's no way I can get there after / during work.... I get off early tomorrow and I'm heading straight up there.

though that chip is small, it's unacceptable..... hopefully the repair they do is worth it, I don't trust dealership paintshops very much...

You're the customer and the dealership should make sure you are 100% satisfied. I would have them repair it properly. Good luck!

Well, I drove up to the dealership immediately after work today..I got there around 4:20PM and the sales person I've been working with wasn't there.... this actually made me happy because my buddy noticed something that heightened my frustration level:

I guess someone must have scraped up the rim pretty badly during a previous test drive.... It totally explains why the first form he had me sign was the "We owe you NOTHING" form.

I took the advice of cleanwhiteSS & 11BEE and asked to speak with a manager... sales manager, general manager, ANY manager. The sales manager was the only person available... today was his 2nd day.. I didn't care because he was so pleasant that I didn't have to show my frustration, get mad, or anything... he took me over to the body shop, apologized over and over on the way there, then went in and spoke with the manager over there.

I have an appointment on Wednesday morning... The wheel will be repaired (or replaced) and the chip will be taken care of. They're going to give me a rental or a loaner vehicle until the repairs are complete.

I'll post an update along with images when the work is completed next week.

Thanks to everyone here for the advice. (and the amazing sales manager who took phenomenal care of the situation.)

You're right... and that's how the sales manager treated me.. I will never deal with that salesman again.

Car Salesmen are like old shoes... the dealership wears the hell out of them and throws them out in the old shoe pile or they become broken in and comfortable house slippers.

Oh I know I am gonna get flamed for this one! HA HA HA HA

Dropped the car off this morning... I arrived before the body shop opened, waited for someone to show up, and guess what... the promised rental car wasn't ready, nobody had any idea WTF was going on, who I was or what was supposed to be fixed. After showing them the documentation and explaining the entire story, AGAIN, they said I'd be without a car until "at least Friday"... I then had to wander around and wait for someone to get the rental ready. I was finally handed keys to a Chevy Cruze and made it to work; only 1.5 hours late.

Maybe just touch it up, a little compound and polish and see how it comes out.

I wouldn't get worked up about it. It's small enough you may forget about it. It won't be the first chip you get and certainly won't be the last.

Have the dealer fix it. It's a new car and they caused damage to it.

When spending over $30,000 on something, I don't find it unreasonable to demand that imperfections be fixed to my satisfaction. I'd at lest like it to be "perfect" for the first few weeks... preferably months.

I spent roughly 1/2 of that for a Honda civic EX and the dealership I purchased that from made absolutely sure I was 100% satisfied with everything before they stopped calling me.... they bent over backwards to fix little things that I noticed when taking delivery.

This dealership is fixing the issue, however it's been quite a chore... I think it's the lack of courtesy and respect that has me more frustrated than anything.

It's being fixed right now... should have it back tomorrow. I'll post pics when I get it back.

I'm sorry to hear about how things went for you at your dealer FNG. Hopefully they can reverse this on the retrieval trip for you. Keep us up on how things go.

Well, I picked up my car on Friday. The rim was machined and looks wonderful. They sanded and painted the section of the rear deck to fix the paint chip instead of using touch up. The paint was blended wonderfully, however there was a bit of over-spray.

It was an overcast day, and the vehicle was in the shade, but inspected their work as thoroughly as I could... I noticed sections that needed to be buffed and cleaned, which they did wonderfully. I drove the car straight home and parked it for the evening.

The following morning I was up bright and early to wash & wax it... as soon as I pulled the vehicle out into the sun I noticed a few things.... The interior looked dusty and there were dirt marks all over the door panels and leather. When I exited and walked towards the rear of the car I saw that the bow tie on the rear deck was hazy. I assume that they didn't remove it while they were sanding, or it was sprayed with something that caused the "chrome" look to turn "dull". What's worse is that when I arrived at the passenger side door I immediately noticed this:

There's a matching one on the drivers side door.... I didn't open the door into ANYTHING, and I know for a FACT that those chips weren't there when the vehicle went in to be repaired.

[updated] The dealership agreed to fix the door chips... have to drive back up there on Friday.
