3 inch X-pipe Muffler that will fit inside drive tunnel?
I am trying to adjust the tone of my exhaust. I am trying to find a true 3 inch all the way through x-pipe muffler. I have found a few, but they are all too wide to fit inside the drive tunnel width of 9 inches. Dynomax makes one that is 9 3/4". Does anyone know if this will fit? If someone else knows of a company that makes one please let me know. If a vendor on here sells one, please send me the info so I can order right away. Thanks for your help, I am hoping someone out there has done something like this.
Here is a link in case someone has any doubt about what I'm asking: http://www.dynomax.com/mufflers.php?muffler=ultraflox Last edited by usmcjlp; 06-10-2011 at 07:55 PM. Reason: spelling error |

I've thought about something similar myself... I've got a friend running dual x-pipes and it gave his stang a whole new sound.

I currently have kooks's 1 7/8" headers, 3" cats, and a full 3" exhaust. I have also added helmholtz pipes to address the drone issue. My problem is that with a supercharger and cam, I am drawing more attention than I like. I drive it pretty aggressively and keep the rpm up. I really wanted a sleeper. I realize that most people on here want it loud and I'm in the minority. I was hoping that with the number of folks on here who deal with auto parts on a regular basis, someone knows a source for this particular part.

I was looking at doing the same thing when i posted this :
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=132928 I think you will be fine with 1/4 difference cause MagnaFlow muffler: 2.5" Dual Inlet/Outlet 4x9x14" case with an 20" Overall length fits fine, you may have an issue with the overall 25" length. Ahmad

The x-pipe muffler i refered to is 1" taller cause i tried to fit it in the tunnel it fits but sets too low so i had to fit it before the tunnel brace after the headers & it did change the sound completly, the Dynomax you are reffering to has the exact hight of MagnaFlow resonated muffler that fits in the tunnel.

I also found this magnaflow muffler. It is not an x-pipe but a dual 3"in/out straight through design. You are right about the dimensions in the drive tunnel. You can actually replace the x-pipe with a mufflered x-pipe and still have over 2 feet to place a second muffler if you wanted to, so space isn't an issue.

Cut off resonators, placed this muffler, straight 3" pipes out the back, no rear muffler. Woke up the car a little more, sounds better, and I also did a CAI intake. Next, I'm going to try to place high-flow cats, then exhaust will be 'done' and warranty intact. |

Unless someone has another suggestion, I think this is the route I will go.
