I'm not going to bash anyone for driving the V6 (well, maybe I will, but only a little bit), but if you bought the V6, it's almost an issue of disrespect to put SS badges on it. It would be like some poser riding around with Hells Angels back patches on his vest if he wasn't a member of the Hells Angels. Not saying that SS owners (of which I am one) would do the same sort of stuff to an SS poser that the Hells Angels would do to a Hells Angels poser. But enjoy the car you bought. If your car is not an SS, fine, but don't try to pretend it's an SS. Realistically, it doesn't bother me that much at all, mainly because I haven't personally seen a non-SS running around with SS badges. But I do think it's stupid, and makes someone look like an idiot poser.

On a somewhat related note, one of the things that bothers me most is these idiots riding around with fake vents on their fenders, or the fake stick-on hood scoops, both of which you know they bought at Autozone or Advanced Auto Parts or something. That just looks really stupid. Its like saying, "I'm a poser and I want people to think I have a more high end car, one that's been tricked out and has fender vents and a hood scoop, but I want to only spend a few bucks for something that sticks on with 3M tape. Nobody will notice, and I'm sure everyone will think my vents and hood scoop are real." It's just the new fad, at least around here. Instead of jacked up Crown Victorias with 30" wheels, now these idiots ride around with fake fender vents made out of stick on chromed plastic. At least when it was spinners, or the giant 30" rims on the car, they were spending some money and actually modifying the cars. I don't like the style, but I give it a little respect for doing an actual modification to the car. But stick on fender vents? That's just garbage that makes your car look stupid and trashy. You're not fooling anyone with your fake hood scoop, either, especially when one side comes loose and starts flapping in the wind as you drive down the highway (yes I have personally seen that).
I agree.

I'm in Myrtle Beach on Vacation, and have seen two seperate V6's running around down here badged as an SS. Both were RS package cars. I pulled up behind a yellow w/black ralley's my first night here, and noticed the exhaust tips right away as not being quite right. As I pulled up beside it...no Brembo brakes...and upfront no mail slot. But it did have red front and rear SS badges. The second was a red vert with all of the factory badging removed, and vinly ss emblems in their place. And just so everyone knew, he also put huge vinly SS emblems on the front fenders under where the camaro lettering should be. Just makes me wish I would have drove the Camaro down here instead of our ML....just so they knew that they weren't fooling me. I realize in the grand scheme of things it doesn't mean shit.....just annoyed beyond belief when I see one. Kinda like rolling up on a BMW 528 or 530 that has M5 badges on it, or a Mercedes E350 with E63 badges etc.... Just don't see the point. The people that would be really into their car, are the same ones that know it isn't the real deal.....the only ones that are fooled are the ones that could care less anyway.
It is the automotive equivalent of the singer Tom Jones stuffing a rolled up pair of socks down his pants to give the impression of having a huge penis. If someone wants the SS badges on their car, they should do what the rest of us did and buy an SS.

I personally debadged everything. Wanted to get as much silver/chrome out as I could.

But for some reason i seem to remember a couple of members asking to remove the mail slot. If you painted the brakes, it'd look a little more generic as well. But to each his own...

It's absolutely disgusting.
There are also poser SS drivers who replace the front fascia beause they don't like the mailslot. Just trying to look like a V6 or ZL1.
Transformer badges? Your car is not a freaking robot!
I have a neighbor with a 95' Mustang "VERT" (according to the ridiculous license plate) with aftermarket exhaust. Loud as hell and wakes me up.
It makes that little underpowered thing sound like it has serious horsepower, just another poser. I've even seen talk of people wanting to put HUD in a 2010 Camaro! You don't have a 2011, stop trying to make everyone think you do!
Just drive your car and enjoy it. To you it may be the greatest thing on the planet, but the truth is that there is always another car that's faster or handles better. People make too much of a big deal about counting cylinders, there are stock 6 cylinder cars that will dust you on a track.

Maybe his initials are "SS" and that's what the badge means??

I'm proud to have a 2010 2LT/RS/IOM/IOI/GXF/SF

I don't need the SS's on my car. Be proud of what you have.

Geez seems like we have one of these topics appear every few months Honestly in the end who really cares what badge you put on a car just enjoy what you have and stop worrying about what others have. I mean the same can be said for people who put Yenko badges on a non realYenko car, or a Z/28 badge on a non Z car. The bottom line is the person purchased the Camaro, Mustang, Challenger, BMW, ect… they can put whatever the hell they want on the car next time just drive by and give them a wave or thumbs up we have far too many other things in this world to worry about than stinken badges

I saw a Honda Civic SS on the way to a call one morning. Laughed until I got on scene.

Couldn't care less.

If they want to turn it into a flying saucer with wings and spoilers and stickers, more power to them.

Just walk away and feel better about your ride.
