I looked at the ft 5.0s and they were more than I payed for my ss. So yeah ss is the best bang for your buck.

HemiDave,

You do realize your on a camaro site right? Just checking to make sure.

That being said I paid 36k(sticker price at the time, I bought when they first came out) for my 2ss w/ everything but the sunroof, added weight did not want it, and the no rs package. Added Longtubes, exhaust, CAI, Whipple and a tune on an L99 plus stock size nitto`s 555 dr`s out back on stock rims. 9k in mods, I do my work myself. Thats 45k all together and scratches a high 10. I believe your car w/ your package cost more than that stock.

10.9>12.3 for the same amount of money... Just sayin...

Yes, I know its not stock, but I wanted bang for the buck. The only other setup to equal in price and performance like mine is also the same type of setup for cost and equals around about the same et`s from a 5.0 auto mustang, some of them w/ the same type setup are quicker by a couple of tenths some slower by a couple of tenths than mine but right on point w/ in .5 up or down..

By the way I paid 44k, probably just a hair less than your SRT for my 2008 corvette new in 2008, it was 51k msrp but you can have a deal on Vette`s. Ran 11.80 bonestock. 5 tenths better than your 12.3 hero run for the 392. Of course mine was a hero run too, but nonetheless we can always find stock cars that perform better than others.

I wait w/ great anticipation for your explanation as to how flawed my thinking is.. yet the timeclock at the dragstrip, she does not lie my friend..

No. The Challenger is much safer and had much lower Head Injury Criterion Readings than both the Mustang and Camaro, it also weighs more and has a higher bumper heighth. Meaning there is less of a chance that if an SUV or vehicle higher off the ground hits it, that it's bumper will be overriden and structure(safety cage, where you the driver sit) will collapse. The crumple zone of the Camaro was the least effective at absorbing the energy, therefore more of the forces were sent to the dummy. Resulting in moderate-severe injuries in the 35 mph full frontal conducted by the NHTSA. On the other hand, the Mustang weighs nearly 1/4 ton less than the Challenger. So it is at a disadvantage against heavier vehicles.

Right... and it didn't run a 12.3 like you claimed. So when Dodge brings their car to the track to test it before it's out to the public I guess they randomly pick a guy out of the crowd to drive it on street tires? Which happen to be 255's. Lol whatever you say guy. You're right. The SRT team just decided to up the hp by 50 and make it a full second faster than last years SRT and the SS and the 5.0. Chase down a CTS-V... PLEASE... or a GT500. In the mean time, good luck. I wish you the best of luck on the track and on the street

Come on dude showing a youtube video with no proof that those cars are even stock doesnt mean shit. Show us some time slips for multiple STOCK 392s running those times. We have already seen evidence that the SS can run 12.5s stock in the right conditions, but unlike your dumb ass we arent trying to sit here and say that is the standard.

12.56 is the official all time fastest Camaro SS 1/4 mile time, that's a superhero run. No one else here has run <12.6 bone stock, most run high 12s/ 13 flat.

That is my whole point. You dont hear Camaro guys saying it is a 12.6 car in stock form, unlike this guy posting a video of who knows what trying to say that is the standard for all SRT8s.

I agree. I have seen multiple tests of the 392 SRT8 doing high 12s to 13 flat, I have yet to see any major automotive press outlet pull numbers beating the SS or the Mustang(typical tests show 12.6-12.8 for the Mustang GT, 12.8-13.0 for the Camaro SS).

BUT.....

http://www.insideline.com/dodge/chal...full-test.html

Acceleration
0-30 mph (sec.):2.0
0-45 mph (sec.):3.0
0-60 mph (sec.):4.5
0-60 with 1 foot of rollout (sec.):4.2
0-75 mph (sec.):6.2
1/4-mile (sec. @ mph):12.6 @ 112.1

Though I haven't seen Dodge's claimed 12.3 verified by any official outlet. This is the fastest official time out there.

Nice, I really like the Z cars. What does it run? Any vids of it at the track? Not for verification purposes or anything, I just like watching those puppies wind up w/ a turbo going down the 1320. Good stuff.

11.4 was the best I got out of it......no vids though......I have to build up the block and turn up the boost to get any better times I think.....and thats gonna cost a few bucks..... 15k( ouch)....but it will be a 10 sec reliable car if I do it....still mulling it over....

Exactly.
Hemi Dave loves pulling our chains.

He knows that 12.3 is a glory pass and only 1 person has pulled it off (the same guy that ran high 12s - 13.0 on his other track days in warmer air).

Search the Challenger forums and find every time slip you can find for a 392 Challenger (1/8 mile and 1/4 mile) and you'll quickly realize that 12.3 -12.4s are not "common."

And whats even more interesting is they have vidoes of stock Camaros running 12.9 and senior members in the forum saying they've seen stock Camaro SS run 12.9s at the track.

I wonder what Dave runs in his stock 392 at the track?
