Use the search button my friend...

Oshawa can build over 400 cars a day at full production levels. They probably won't hit full production for a month or so though, IMO.

I'm pretty sure there will be news coverage of the event. No doubt GM will have a camera there for there own website.

thats the approximate mix that GM expects to produce for the entire model year. But they build and sell as many of each as they can.

Well, if you out-bid Mr Hendrick at Barret Jackson it would be your car. GM didn't choose him, and the Camaro was selected as the pace car for Daytona long before we ever heard about it.

I doubt it. Outside of the world of car nuts, not too many people care.

'drive it off the line' means that 't just needs to be completed, I'm pretty sure that after paint it won't take much time to assemble.

As for Scotts comments regarding what the cars we saw are, he wouldn't lie to us. If he can't say what they are, he won't say anything.

Read my lips. They can make 400 a day (at full production). All the parts are staged already throughout the line beginning with Hendrik's body. I'll bet from the start to the end of the line will take less than 5 hours. And car #2 will be 5 minutes behind it, car #3, 5 minutes behind #2, etc. It's a constant production flow...

I read a few years back it takes approximatly 6 to 8 hours for a car to be completely assembled.. so if they start at 6AM with nothing put together but all the body parts painted, Mr Hendrick could be driving off in his new Camaro by Noon...I would say 3PM at the latest.

I bet they'll actually start his the night before, or the day before. Finish everything except the last couple hours worth of inspection etc. Think about it, car #00001, they'll give it extra special attention. It will probably have special focus for the QC inspections etc. and come off perfect. I'd sure love to be there to see that one roll out!

Oh and the special pre-order code is just that - just a code. Simply tells someone down the road that "this was a pre-order car". 50 years from now when one crosses the block at Barret-Jackson they'll show that code on the "VIN-dicator" camera and say something like "see this code here? this means that some crazy Camaro nut ordered this car way before production even began."

I won't be there to see it roll out, but I'll be seeing it nonetheless.

Some of you have seen/heard that there will be a Camaro/Corvette Car Show in Durham, NC on May 2, but I just learned this today. If you need/want more details, go check out my local forum posting here.

http://n2.nabble.com/Hendrick-Auto-M....html#a2452253

Here's the news as of today!
This is confirmed: Our Camaro show/unveiling WILL BE May 2, 2009. ON display at the show will be Rick Hendrick’s personal Camaro, the first one out of production, VIN ending in 0001. It is coming directly here from Canada. That will be something to see. Please help me spread the word. This will be a great event.

At 200 cars a day a car must rool off the line every 2.4 minutes. 25 cars an hour.
300 =1.6 minutes and 37.5 cars an hour.
400 =1.2 minutes and 50 cars an hour.
Thats moving!
