#PIP4738: Chirp Click Tick Noise From Under The
Vehicle While Driving - (Nov 6, 2009)
Subject: Chirp, Click, Tick Noise From Under Vehicle While Driving
Models: 2010 Chevrolet Camaro
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this
PI.
Condition/Concern:
Customer may comment of a chirp, click or tick noise from under the vehicle while it is in
motion.
Recommendation/Instructions:
The click or tick noise may be caused by a loose label that is attached to the prop shaft, inspect
the label if it is found to be loose remove the label.
The Chirp noise may be caused by the propshaft center support bearing floating on the shaft. To
verify the noise is from the center support bearing, apply some spray lubricant on the center
support bearing and test drive the vehicle. If noise is reduced or eliminated, replace the prop
shaft with current SPO stock.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the
condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need

to be performed.

+1

O brother.....

Brake changes are easy...you should look into DIY when it actually needs it....

Sorry to hear about the issues you've had dealing with your dealership Hawkeye David. I hope you are able to get you all taken care of soon. Let me know how this issue progresses for you.

Just out I curiosity, are you in the position to ever contact these dealerships and speak with them about these problems? I assume your not on the boards apologizing for dealerships from time to time for fun? As a retail manager, I also understand that there are always two sides of the problem as well. Im not trying to start anything at all or deviate from the topic at hand. Just wondering.

Next time they try that tell them that they should at least kiss you and tell you that they love you if they are going to try to screw you. I have yet to deal with the service dept at my dealer and I don't know if they were just puffing or not but they made a huge deal with me about my satisfaction and how I was going to fill out some survey that they said would be sent to me upon my purchase so if this is true then it would stand to reason that you should in some way contact gm and tell them about this experience whether that be through a survey or letter or what have you. Again I don't know if they were just puffing or if they actually get something for having positive surveys but these ppl deserve some negative pub for their performance. At best they are just incompetent and at worst they are trying to drum up business by fixing things that are not broken and I have been told that the dealerships make a healthy portion of their money off of service vs car sales. I could easily see some morally bankrupt service manager trying to drum up sales for some bonus or something.

I'd save all the documents comparing the huge disparity of the two estimates and try to get them to someone with gm that would be embarassed by this and maybe you can save someone else from getting hosed.
