Now, think about it in the reverse. A person from another country buys a GM vehicle only because it brought money to their country. GM already has a good relationship with customers here in America, why not push to have the same thing in another country.

At least, that is one of the many ways I can understand why GM does some of the things they do.

I have absolutely no problem with the camaro being built in Canada. They do great work!
I could not agree more with what you said. Everything now is about being a global economy, and the Camaro is no different.

In fact should we all rush out to our Camaro's and take off all the parts that are made in China? Yes there are parts in our Camaro's that are made in China, Mexico, Canada, France, etc., and that is what a global economy is all about, at least that is what I learned in graduate school.

I'm proud of where my Camaro was made. Thanks Oshawa.

We're living in a welfare generation.
Many kids have no aspirations to do anything because their parents teach them how to live off the Government.

I work with kids and they tell me how their parents open bank accounts in their names so they can hide money from the Govt. Parents also live together yet the mother will claim she's single with kids to collect extra Govt money. Parents will coach their kids on how to act so they can be labled "ADHD, ADD, Emotionally Handicapped etc. so they can collect a monthly Govt. check. It's true. I witnessed it and spoken to these kids.
This one girl I spoke with (14 years old) could tell me all the different Govt. checks her mother recieved, and she couild explain to me how they would hide income from the Govt.

I know there are a lot of good people who really want a job and really want to work. But there's also a huge population of people who have learned to live off the Govt. and they want to keep it that way.

IMO, I am extremely happy that GM brought the Camaro back, but I too wish that it would have been made in America.

There are too few products that are made here in the USA. We need, as a country, to support our own when we can.

A friend of mine sent me this link http://www.stillmadeinusa.com/ . It is a website that lists products that are made here.

Its not the Canadians fault that this happened. Its ours!

I blame the following in order of responsibility 1. Government 2. Unions 3. US. Actually its us that is totally responsible for all of it. If enough of "US" wake up, we can correct it. But I fear we are to late. We are being nudged into a economy that is not free enterprise. Greed and laziness seem to be the wave of the future.

Ok I'm late to this thread, but plain and simple. The biggest reason GM or any multi national company has factories in different countries is for price stabilization.

When you make all your products in country X and country X's currency becomes highly valued in the global market, it becomes more expensive to pay employees, buy parts and ship your products in country X. So logically to ensure that you are not stuck in a rough patch compared to other manufacturers in other countries, you build several manufacturing sites around the world and adjust production in each country to assure a healthy profit margin. Toyota and Honda have manufacturing in the US because right now it's cheap to build in the US. Not because they give a flying rats @$$ about American jobs. GM needs to have factories in other countries to remain competitive.

As someone previously stated, follow the money.... I don't have the statistic in front of me, but more of every dollar spent on a detroit 3 car stays in the US than any other car manufacturer. That includes money that goes to R&D, corporate, manufacturing, suppliers, sales and everybody else in the food chain that lives in the US.

Also, look at the graphics. 26 plants in the US from the detroit 3 and only 15 from any of the Asian manufacturers.

Maybe im wrong here but the whole American built vs Canadian built thing just seems like the usual fanboy crap.
I love the car so far. I think the "american built" crowd are not aware of the benefits of GM building abroad.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm............. As a person who has served in OUR Armed Forces ( Marine Corps) especially during a wartime situation on foreign soil I am utterly amazed at a couple of things.

One being that the OP is from out Nations capital and has a narrow minded view of worldly things.

Secondly being someone who has traveled the world and has seen many places and people, namely Canadians I find this offensive.

I will have had my car 2 years come July 1st of this year and have had only 1 MINOR issue, the A-pillar clips. IS this Canada's fault? HELL NO. If it was built in Detroit would it be their fault, well no, it was an engineers fault not because my car was built in Canada.

I could care less if Mike Judge and his friends build these cars in Mickey Mouse underwear while wearing Cinderella slippers cause whatever they are doing and however they are doing it, IS WORKING and THEY are putting out AMAZING CARS, and I for one, ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY LOVE MINE TO DEATH.

I am patriotic as the next guy but come on enough with the cant believe my car is built in Canada Crap.

Mike Ya'll do an amazing job and I love my car, keep on keeping on Brother.
