Vararam peeps...inside

Hey guys, alright figured I'd need my own thread for this.
My dealer, without telling me installed this anti corrosion/corrosion detector under the hood of my car. Was a piss off but meh I can live with it. All up until now when I realized that this thing is in most likely in the way of where the Vararam needs to be.

Heres the Pic. Do I need to move it?

Apparently it was a fail. But the concept was that it puts a charge on the car which would make it not corrode. From what I heard, it never worked. My car has no rust though, but shes never been driven in the salt and snow.

You will for sure have to move it. Me? I'd rip it out and put it in the circular file.

TJ, what is that some new technology that only the canadians get? now im jealous lol.. but on a serious note, if you want to keep it you could just move it to somewhere else or take what blackinblack said and move it into the circular file

Actually it is something that the U.S. Navy and some of it's Allies have been using on Navy ships for years to fight corrosion, there should be some small pieces of metal (zinc normally) that work along with it.

actually this technology does exist & work...most ocean going ships use it...the electrical charge in the metal will help reduce oxidation (rust)...I worked on a R&D project at work not too long ago & we were looking at doing the same thing for the buoys we were using

here's a blurb from wiki on it

"Cathodic protection is a technique used to inhibit corrosion on buried or immersed structures by supplying an electrical charge that suppresses the electro-chemical reaction. If correctly applied, corrosion can be stopped completely. In its simplest form it is achieved by attaching a sacrificial anode thus making the iron or steel the cathode in the cell formed. The sacrificial anode must be made from something with a more negative electrode potential than the iron or steel, commonly zinc, aluminium or magnesium."

Yep that's been around for a long time and I'm surprised more people don't know about them. Salt mine trucks use them as well. But unless you live near the ocean and you plan on keeping your car for 20+ years it seems like a waste. Vararam > corrosion eliminator

It's a wonder you can sit down after paying the dealer for that. I'm sure it wasn't free.

That was my million dollar Idea for years. Except I thought that if you applied the correct charge to the body panels you could make them repel dust.
