As some of you may know, I won the deer lottery in mid June. The last thing I'm waiting on is a headliner (airbags destroyed the orginal one) to complete the repairs.

My car has been sitting in the shop now waiting on the headliner. It's been 3 weeks now. The first story was a postal strike in Canada is delaying parts. Now I'm told that GM has an ESTIMATED ship date of July 28th for this part.

Are they fing serious? It takes longer to ship a part than it takes to build an entire car? Is there anyone out there who can help me out here? I opened a case with GM but thus far have gotten nowhere. I also PMed Jeff here on the boards but I haven't heard back from him just yet.

Thanks to anyone who may be able to assist.

just keep bugging people it took almost 3 months for me to get a replacement windshield. But eventually after bugging enough people, they supposedly pulled a windshield off the actual factory production line.... You just have to annoy them so much that they're going to go out of their way to get you off their back

There's one on Ebay for sunroof for $45

Thats funny as all the parts I have been waiting for to get my bumper fixed have been coming from the US and besides...parts would not ship through Canada Post and other shipping companies should be able to handle the extra. I call

Unfortunately it sounds like they are telling a story. I would just keep rattling chains.

Good luck on getting the replacement soon!

There is a nationwide database for late model salvage yards. You enter the info in for the part and get sent replies...

If you need it now...that is.

Yea, I too am waiving the giant BS flag here. It makes no sense at all.

Ummm no the part about the Canada postal workers strike is true. Just until recently our (USA) postal services were delivering there but not anymore as the mail is just sitting so all mail to and from canada has been suspensed. When this will end only the strike force knows that.

It's a headliner. Go get your car and have them call you when it comes in. No reason to keep the car there.

Headliners usually would not ship via post office. Freight companies/UPS, etc handle that.

My new SS9 ACS Sleeper Hood just came from Canada and is being delivered to the custom paint shop tomorrow.

If only it was that simple. There are airbags that must go back in. I cannot take the car until they are back in. The headliner is part of that process.

Since the windshield has to come out, they cannot use the old one for now and then add the new one later. In other words, I'm in the middle of some sort of GM part order clusterf@#k.

UPDATE: Our good friends at Rodgers Chevy have looked up this part and have told me that it's on backorder. I had no idea that so many people are out looking for headliners. Thanks to Becky and Maureen for at least getting me some information. I guess I have to go and stir up a huge storm with GM.

Man I would love it if the US had a postal strike. A mini vacation from bills, yea.

The government forced them back to work last week. Canada Post is back to delivering. They may be backed up due to the strike, but definately not true that they still aren't moving mail.

It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas. What do you say, is it the new Bluesmobile or what?
