I figured you were more into the vet. Thanks, I appreciate your opinion especially since you have both.

Im with you on the love for the Camaros as well, im on my third Camaro now. Although I have always loved the vette as well.

I have no need for a back seat at this point in my life so that isnt really a factor in my decision but I see what your saying.

I dont know if it will be more exclusive.. You see lots of vettes driving around but Z06's are pretty rare in comparison.

Love em both.
I just need both! Wish I could afford to..

i am also going to get a z06 next year and been doing research. the 2006 had some clutch issues and the 2007 models had some bad lifter issues. 2008 has had no known issues. i am getting a 2008 or newer model.
hmm.. I never knew that. Thanks for the info. By the time im ready to get one the 2008's will probably be closer to my price range.

But there's a lot more to a car than just pure speed. If not,we'd all be driving F bodies blown w/meth. You have to take into account which car revs YOUR engine more when you look at it,as well as which is more fun to you and your driving style.

Good luck with whatever you decide, both are fantastic automobiles.
Thanks

If having a backseat is not a factor...go for the vette!

I'm a HUGE corvette fan!! but I would take the brand new ZL1 than a used '07 Z06.

But if its a '09 up Z06 I would take the Z06 than the ZL1.

yes the z06 will be better performance-wise, but the zl1 aint gonna be no slouch. 550+ hp!! i would go for the zl1, just cause i am a huge camaro fan. i like the vette too, but it just doesnt have the same feeling for me. if you want straight-out performance, go for the z06. but i see vettes all the time, and to me, z06s look way too similar to the base vette. but the zl1... well youll KNOW its a zl1

If I lived in the US; I would have purchased a Corvette GS, Z06 or ZR1 instead of a Camaro depending on the price negotiations. However, being in Canada we not only pay 25-35% more for these vehicles, but then the dealer inflates the price of Corvettes taking anyone interested totally out of the market to purchase those vehicles unless of course you don't care about wasting your money, to spend $110+k on a Grand Sport and well over $150+k on a ZR1.

The last time I visited a GM dealership in 2010 before purchasing the SS, they had a Corvette GS Vert on the floor with a $115k pricetag. Just rediculous and in my opinion a straight rip-off.

US Chevrolet WebSite:
http://www.chevrolet.com/corvette-family/

Canadian Chevrolet WebSite:
http://www.gm.ca/gm/english/vehicles...odels-overview

Grand Sport: US $55k / CDN $75k (+dealer inflation)
Z06: US $74k / CDN $96k (+dealer inflation)
ZR1 US $110k / CDN $129k (+dealer inflation)

To make a long story short; I love my Camaro SS and I've always liked this vehicle ever since I saw it in the very first Transformer movie, however, it would not have been my first choice as a purchase. If Corvette pricing here was the same as in the US I would definately get a Corvette as first choice, and the SS would have been an afterthought.
Corvettes are sick, and there is no words to express what you would have in terms of a Z06 with a centri blower, just plain sick. Go for the Corvette man.

I've been a Corvette fan before I was a Camaro fan but I still say go for the Camaro - its just such a sharp looking design. When the Sideswipe Corvette comes out...well that changes everything.

I'm just gonna throw this out there, but here's the kicker if you get the Z06 can you afford the heavy price tag of the maintenace of the car. Many people fail to factor that in and let me tell you there is nothing cheap about repairing that car. The ZL1 I'm assuming would be a little cheaper to maintain do to lots of similar traits to the SS and all.

If you are spending your max on either car and plan on keeping them and haven't factored in the maintenance then I suggest you do that before even looking at a Z06, because simple simple oil changes and wear and tear stuff is going to put a dent into your pocket for that car. Either that or just don't drive it alot.

I would wait to be able to drive the ZL1 before making any decisions.

There is a ton of talk about this car but nobody has actually been able to take it out to see it's true colors. GM has put some hard work into it so you never know, it may exceed your expectations.

Good luck with your decision!!!

I'm in the same boat you are...I want the new ZL1, but I've always wanted a Z06. The thing that worries me about the Z06 is the redesign that is about due. I am one of those people that likes driving the current generation's style of vehicle so to me it's a big deal if I bought a car and they changed the bodystyle in a year. Maintenance is another big deal on a Z06.....not oil changes or anything simple because those aren't cheap on the SS, but I've been told changing the brakes is ridiculous on a Z06....and holy balls the tires aren't cheap. Financing could be an issue with a used car, as some banks won't let you carry a longer term on an older vehicle. Credit unions are usually more flexible with terms though. Either car will be great fun, and provide pleanty of permagrin. It really just comes down to your preference. Good luck.

While the ZL1 will be brand new the Z06 would most likely be a 2006 or 2007 with approx 15 to 20k miles since I can not afford a brand new Z06. I would be paying anywhere from 42 to 49K for the Z06 while the new ZL1 will most likley be a liitle bit more but will also be new. Here is an example of a Z06 that I would be interested in buying just to give you an idea of what I would be looking at. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2007-...item2c5db58337

So, which would you get? All opinions and comments are welcome.
Go sit in a Z06 and drive one and you will have your answer. Just be sure the Z06 has not been beaten up.
