water boiling?

I have a 2001 carmaro. I drive it home from work and noticed the water was boiling. It seems to be losing pressure in the water system. I checked the heater core its fine. then I checked the oil to see if the head gasket was leaking. no water in the oil. someone told me that on the 3600 v6 motor that the intake manifold gasket is weak on that model and i was wondering if that could be it. or could it still be a head gasket. btw the compression in all my cylinders are fine. (if that helps)

Thanks
Mike
