Some Quick Questions

So i have some quick questions after giving up on searching for the answers...

1.) Has any found an alternative to the massive, mostly useless, rear view mirror?
In my opinion the mirror is too bulky and the Onstar buttons don't belong where they are. They would be much better off either on the sides of the mirror or on the ceiling with the garage and gate buttons. But when the mirror and the cowl hood meet, there's no windshield left, and its the biggest blind spot especially in right hand turns. Not meaning to rant just want a discussion.

2.) Also whats the smallest diameter wheel that will fit over the stock SS brakes?

Not much to discuss. I have no problem with the mirror as it is. Smaller wheels? Why?

Well im just speaking from personal experience sbout the mirror. I live on a road thats next to a lake so there are some sharp turns and turns that dip down and then go up and to the right, and i cant see in the turn unless i duck around the mirror. Guess it also depends on how tall the person is and how they sit in the car.

I like the Factory 20' SS/RS wheels, they look really good. But smaller wheel=more tire. I like 5 spoke wheels with some sidewall on them. Some of the 20-spoke style wheels look good, but when they get to the 20" and above mark, they look too much like wims instead of rims I was just asking what size wheel you can go down to with out modifying the brakes. Nothing beats a good stance with beefy tires.

The mirror sucks!! I've thought of trying a few different things, just haven't been able to figure out attachment points.
I keep hoping I'll find something out of another GM that's a little slimmer/less intrusive.
I have the same problem you do with right handers. I either lean way to the right or slouch real low to make sure nothings coming.

I'm 6' 5" and don't really have an issue with the mirror but I guess that doesn't mean others can't.

There are some 18" wheels out there that fit without hitting the brakes. Weld has some that look pretty damn good.

Personally I like the looks of the factory wheels. This is the first car I've ever had that the stock rims look as good or better than anything out there. It's good because I probably won't spend $1,500 - $2000 on wheels (watch...as I say that I'll have new rims within the year) but bad becasue the factory ones are so freaking heavy that just switching to a lighter aftermarket wheel will get you down the track faster.

Mirror, I agree, however I've gotten used to it. Wheels, I could be wrong but I think the smallest that clears the bembro brakes (v8) is 17".

1) Flip the mirror upside down

I'm a tall dude, and I've observed the same issue with the mirror. It's big, and the windshield is narrow.

I just duck and bob my head in order to see around it.

Regarding the wheels, I can't say for sure. The V6 cars come with 18's but presumably have smaller brakes. Why, are you trying to put 13" gold wire Daytons on it?

Yeah been wondering about a 180 degree mirror. long and slim, i think they run them or used to run them in NASCAR. I think they almost look like the mirrors you sometimes see in golf carts, go figure.

Mirror, what mirror?
I run 18" wheels for snowtires in the winter. Don't tell anybody but I like the handling better.

The smaller the tire, the less unsprung rotational weight. This equals better performance. I assume the tires are cheaper as well. I can't do it because Vlad loves the 20s, though.
