This post is old but thought I'd give an update. I just hit 36000 miles on my car and continue to get great mpg results. I've been driving it in sport mode now and on my last tank the dic read 29.5 mpg with almost 540 miles on the tank of gas. Going to be switching over the the RS rims here shortly so I will see if the mpg changes going from 18's to 20's.

That's pretty good gas mileage. I have about 1K miles on mine, and haven't taken it on a long road trip yet. My work commute is 10 miles one way, but about half of that can be nasty stop & go. So far, I'm averaging about 21 MPG, and about 30 MPH. I usually fill up at slightly below 1/4 tank, which is around 300 miles.
She's still breaking in, so I expect the gas mileage may still get better.

Non sense, I use the horsepower for bursts of fun and can do 33 MPG if its all highway with my LS and stock BF Goodrich tires @ 35 PSI.
You cannot do that in a loose your dignity Prius!

I must be missing something here. I drive 25 miles to work (each way) about 18 of it on the freeway. I'm getting 19.3 avg.
It started at about 17 and has gone up to where it is now (2500 miles).

I floor it every now and then but mostly I'm just cruising along.

I see lots of claims of 29+, I've evn seen V8's showing 24+ on the DIC.

What gives?

Keep the hwy rpms below 2000 and you'll get good mileage. Usually the EPA rating or better.

I always get 28-29mpg average when driving 65mph, and that includes a little city driving.

Commuting to/from work, I'm now getting around 25mpg, but that is about 70% highway. When the car was new, I only got about 21mpg communting, but winter fuel could be a factor.

I had always gotten pretty mediocre mileage (15-16 mpg) in town, but I only have a four mile drive and part of it is winding my way up a parking ramp. On the highway it was never great either. But I think the culprit is partially the 10% ethanol gas that's the cheapest here. When we visited Pennsylvania I switched to the 87 octane and there were sections where I got 29mpg. But you have to be going 55-60 for it to work, if you bump up to 70 or 75 it goes down again.

20,000 + miles for a total avg. of 24.5 mpg.

I have seen as high as 30 mpg on a tank full.

I have seen as high has 33 mpg while doing some 25 mile test on the way into work.

Good Performance, Better Handling, Fantastic Looks. WOW, I LOVE MY CAMARO.

I know same here!

At first I thought it would go up but I haven't gone over 20mpg since I've had the car, either way Im happy cause I knew what I was getting, and If I want to save gas I would have boughten a Cruze or something fuel efficient, shoot I plan on trading up to a SS, and probably average 18 mpg with the V8

I hear ya! For this much power, 19MPG ain't bad!
I plan to get the V8 when I trade this in.

I got 32.4 one time! It was on a plane for around 15 miles, then it was all uphill and went to 27.something
