Preliminary Testing on KB 4 in intake tube

Although we have done this before we just made another version of our 4 inch intake tube to fit the KB blower cars.

There is a lot more testing to do but the Dyno shows NO Loss in Performance at 674 RWHP and 592 RWTQ dropping from the 4.5 inch intake pipe to our 4 inch intake pipe.

This tube tuned Very easy 2 Pulls , Maf signal is Very Smooth, Driveability is Excellent.

Here is the Graphs of the 2 tubes overlaid.

We are actually up about 5 RWTQ and 4 RWHP.

We still have to have these manufactured by our Pipe Bending company, so it will be several weeks until they are available.

Congrats Ted, this will make allot of KB owners happy. Did you change the location of the MAF sensor in the tube? Also was the car a LS3 or L99?

Stock long block LS3 with my Rough Idle blower cam, LT headers Off road pipes, 2.5 inch exhaust KB just touching 10 PSI at 7000.

We are also working on an IAT Solution.

Ted.

Awesome Job Ted, I always thought 4 inch`s was enough...Haha!!! Pun not intended till I read what I wrote... My wife wouldn`t agree though...Lol..

Nice of you to be working on a fix to the KB problem, like you fixed the fuel rail problem on the Edelbrock.

Ted.
Are you not going to be a STS chiller distributor/installer? I thought you were onboard with Tracy to be one of the first shops, or do you have a better way to drop the IATs?

Has anyone logged any cylinder pressures on these engines, I would think at 10psi/675 RWHP the CP's are creeping up there. Just curious.

What is the reason for going to the smaller tube? Just tuning issues?

The MAF wasn`t reading the air very well to my understanding.

IMO

Varying perceptions on what is "good enough." Also, the initiative to perfect a system(fitment/performance/drivability) based on conservative power productions requirements. I like the constant re-evaluation to improve a product.

Bigger Heat Exchanger? Reservoir? or Both? I am surprised you are so willing to work on improvements for the KB other than the fact you love to wrench on things and make more power! I guess if you help the competition get better, it will also motivate the other F/I manufacturers to improve over the long term as well.

Because 4 inch is more than adequate, as seen in the dyno graph and restores OEM tuning resolution and torque calculations.

Ted,

Is it a complete CAI w/filter or just a replacement tube? Does it hang low, 1-2" off the lower bumper lip like OE?

Pics?

We moved the filter more forward behind the bumper, and opened up the air dam for more fresh air.

It is still a Prototype so it isn't pretty, So sorry no pics at this time.
