If you only have a weekend every several months then get Zaino. You need Z5, ZFX, clay bar and Z6
ZFX is an accelerator and speeds up the polish drying on the car. Apply - wait 20-30 minutes - wipe off. You can apply 3 coats in a 24 hour period, according to their website. It will be a longer process if you don't use ZFX with the Z5. Z5 his fillers for swirls and works for minor swirls. I use Adam's and Zaino......as well as others. As was pointed out above, washing is the most important step. Do that right and you'll just be maintaining. Good luck!

I have had great results from Zaino products on all my vehicles.
The first time you use them takes some time but is not all that difficult compaired to anything else. Nothing ever lasted on my black Impala but after two coats of Z5 the finish has never looked better. I measured surfact temps on the car in the sun and they were 179 degrees. Normally any waxes I tried only lasted a few weeks but the Z5 is going on two munths now and is still beads up like crazy. My CGM SS paint looked so much better after the first application of Z2 it is hard for my to think of trying anything else. I also like the Z6 for quick clean ups and the tire shine is easy to apply by rag and has the perfect amount of shine. I do like Adams Shampoo and foam gun great tool for the wash.

Correct any paint flaws first, and then either Zaino or Adams will do fine.
With either brand, I highly recommend watching Junkman's videos on how to care for paint. He is an Adam's guy through and through, but he also knows how to work with paint and make it look right. Good stuff. I just completed doing the Caddy wagon for the first time with two coats of Zaino. Did not take even close to 12 hours. Maybe because I've been doing Zaino for going on 10 years now I know what to do. Sure, it does take a bit of prepping, but you'd do that regardless of brand. One, because claying the car is something you're going to do if you want to do it right using either brand and that will take two washes plus the clay at minimum. Add time for any paint correction you may want to do. I use Menzerna and a Porter Cable for any paint corrections and I'm happy with the results. Now, to apply additional coats of Zaino, it'll be like applying any kind of wax as far as time goes. The bottom line is with either system, getting the paint right before applying is key. Then maintaining it properly. You can get fanatical, or you can go general. Depends on how much time you want to invest in it.

I was a long time Zaino user, until I found Adams. As stated above, Zanio fills the swirls and Adams removes them. I perfer to remove the swirls, but to each their own. I found Zaino to leave a very nice and very reflective shine, but not the deep wet look I was after. I want my paint to look like it was just sprayed and is still wet. Please don't get me wrong, Zaino is a great product. I just found that Zaino on my car seemed to take away from the color of the paint. Meaning that the reflection was so much that all you saw was the reflection. Zaino didn't make my paint POP out and grab you. I like that with Adams it is reflective, but also looks a mile deep.
You'll be hard pressed to find a company that cares more about keeping it all American made, from the products in the bottles to the bottles themselves. And their customer service is second to none.

But is the price of Adams really worth it....600-1200 for everything you need to do a complete detail, I am anxious to try it but to spend that much money it better blow me away.

If your an Army ranger and you get to Benning for a day or two, drop me a PM. I have the full line of Adam's plus the Porter Cable and Flex systems ~ and Zaino Z2, Z5, Z6. We'll do a complete comparison and you can see which suits you. Sound fair?
Or......if you want to hang out with a detailer for a day, contact Steven King at Atlanta Sports and Imports, 2905 Amwiler Rd Suite A 404-454-3442. He's also an Adam's dealer

The PC is Great for a first time user of a polisher. It's almost fool proof. I only say almost, because if you flip it upside down and beat your car with it, you will cause damage. Seriously though. The PC has a clutch, so if you ar putting too much pressure on it, it will slow or totally stop the spinning. Which is what can cause burning. The Flex does not have a clutch and is forced rotation. The Flex, in the right hands can cut your polishing time in half.
I have tro run, but Ill try to get back on here in a little while if you need me to clarify.

usranger80.....I am one of the Adam's guys.....and my Camaro is my DD as well. Did it take a while to do EVERYTHING from start to finsh? sure.....but it was well worth it. and you can ask MLEE above.....my car looks GREAT...and it stays that way.....just use the techniques of the two bucket wash and you will have a quality looking ride for many years......Its kind of like the old saying..."YA GET WHAT YA PAY FOR"....what you put into the prep work will make the difference.

I use Mothers and Meguiars at half the cost of Adam's, available at stores, and same results. It works well with the Porter Cable 7424xp. No more overpriced and overhyped polishes and waxes for me.
