I don't know where this new SRT8 charger is going to be place ,but if it around a new SRT8 challenger then it's less than GT500 money. I just looked at a new GT500 and it stickers at over $56,000. You can get an SRT8 Challenger for much much cheaper than that.

They are actually placed directly between GT/SS and GT500/ZL1 with a base price of only $44k which is $6,000 less then a base GT500.

I think it fills the niche quite well.

Yeah this base price is 47,000 so not much behind a GT500. Like I said nice car too much for being a four door challenger. And also why do Dodge think or believe they have to charge this much for a car with a big V-8 in it when similar company charge thousands less for similar numbers. I mean come on 47000 for 470 hp and some suspension upgrades is crazyyyyyyyyyyyyy.

Actually the price is very good for what the Chargeer comes with. You are getting things found on much pricier cars such as rain sensing wipers, adaptive cruise control, 900 watt sound systems from the same company high end makers like Lexus uses, paddle shifters, speacial bodywork, interior treatments, SRT specific seats with extra bolstering, heated AND cooled fron seats, heated back seats, heated SRT specific flat bottom steering wheel, electronically adjustable suspension, touch screen navigation, etc, etc. You are basically getting 90% of the performance of a E55 or M5 for 50% of the price and not really giving up any features. And even the handling is excellent (it pulled better numbers than he Camaro SS does and is every bit the euqal or better in most performance situations compared to it's much MUCH pricier competitors).

They are owned by Fiat now so maybe thats waht they want to charge to recoup some of the money they spent to buy them.

Whatever helps you sleep at night pal.

Real production 392 Challengers have been running mid 12's and real production 5.0 Mustangs have been running low 12's.

So..are they still press cars when the regular production cars are turning in times better than "press cars"?

Can you read? I said let's wait until we get numbers from real production cars..do you have a production 2012 charger srt8? Reading is fundamental.

The Charger 392 SRT8 will slightly outrun the 5.0 and the LS3 SS, just like the Challenger 392...... trap speeds do not lie. Sure, there will be some denial... that is always the first step .

I did, but you included example of "press cars" that have turned out to actually be the same, if not slower than real world, full production cars.

Just noticed you drive a dodge...It's funny how you fanboys function. When the rags kill your cars in reviews..it "oh they suck". When they publish the "greatest thing since sliced bread" reviews you hang on every word.
From what I've see outside shop cars and press cars all of the new muscle cars are on par.
Makes no difference to me...
I run 16's.

I'm no fanboy, I drive a dodge because they gave me the best deal on my Challenger.

Did I say the new SRT8 Charger is the greatest thing since sliced bread? No. What I did say is that I suspect real world times will often match the magazine times or exceed them. I brought up the 5.0 and the 392 Challenger as examples.

You're the one who started making accusations of "press cars".
