Nissan has vowed to keep production of at least 1 million vehicles a year in Japan to protect jobs and hone its manufacturing expertise.

When are we going to wake up and protect our manufacturing based jobs here in the USA?

When we stop clinging so tightly to best-case economic scenarios as a matter of principle...but even then, we'd first have to wake up and educate & train our young people for the advanced manufacturing jobs we're loosing due to lack of a skilled workforce.........

To be fair...it's largely up to the company (assuming said company is freely-operated by a board/CEO/etc). iirc, GM has said something less direct, but along those lines: "We'll build where we sell".

hrmhrm...this is ruining my Fest III high....

*switches thoughts in head*

........mmmmm THR SS......

...I can almost touch it....

Looks great (those swept back headlight lenses are going to look killer), but there's definitely some bits of car where there was nothing but black before...

(In Yoda's voice...) Hmmmm...heading for stormy waters debating politics, AND corporate practices are we? LOL . I won't open that can of worms. Back to the topic at hand. We gotta keep all the highs and buzzes going! I betcha you certainly are dreaming about that THR SS Joe. And rightfully so, I have been telling the wife if there is much wait beyond the expected release times, or difficulty in getting a ZL1 I am contemplating the same route as you. Patience...patience...sigh...I know I am not the only one getting stir crazy. On another note I have been wondering lately what THR has in mind to modify and upgrade the ZL1. It's going to be green grass and high times next year for us all.

So interesting thought. Why would Chevy show the LS7 SEMA Concept in the Special editions video????

Most of the front end is pulled from the GM commercial from a year or so ago where they more or less revealed the ATS front end.

I am curious about the long term effects of this philosophy.... It sounds good in theory but what happens when you have saturated the market? Keeping the overhead high and not selling vehicles sounds like a recipe for disaster. Im no pro at this kind of stuff so feel free to rip my post apart....

wow... need to tred lightly here...

No picking a political side here... but this country makes it very hard to justify the cost of setting up shop here....

I think if a State were to get really aggressive on its corporate tax .... the states may be able to coerce businesses to stay... Seems like AZ and TX are making an effort to go to CA and NY and draw businesses out of there....

Mike Rowe of "Dirty Jobs" gave a great speech to Congress about the lack of skilled labor in this county... Very good testimony from him...

With the temps these days, you'll be ready for it.

BTW, I just quoted you in the other thread, copied it, moved here & pasted it.

Ripples ?

.

Maybe I've been out of the loop.

When I was at the dealership yesterday I was looking closely at the finish on some C5 hoods. Of course they reflected the scenes above like mirrors, but with wavy ripples at a fine level. The edge of a flagpole against the sky looked like the surface of a calm lake at a distance, and the inside the showroom model reflected the ceiling panels as if I were looking through a fine wave pattern.

I remember my cars that I cared enough to take care of in the past as having perfect mirror finishes with no ripples.

Is that just the way the metal panels are produced these days?

Have I just lost another piece of my mind?
.....

I'm confused C5 metal?

The ripples are the paint not the metal, etc.
