Glad to hear you got taken care of. After your post I'm wondering the same thing as far as taking care of the clutch. I'm a bit rusty after not having driven a stick for years before I bought my camaro, I had one for years before but it has still been a while. Now I'm paranoid from your post lol.

One thing. You should never ever EVER slip the clutch to keep from rolling when stopped on a hill, not what they're meant or designed for. It can overheat and glaze the clutch and greatly reduce its lifespan. That's what the brakes are for. Need to practice and master starting on hills properly. Until you do one technique is light application of the parking brake (just enough to keep from rolling) and release brake just as the clutch engages and you start moving. I put 196K miles on my old DD and never once had to replace the clutch.

Different car completely, but my clutch went out under 10k miles on my modded turbo Jetta. (it wasn't modded yet, but they fixed it under warranty)
After that fix- the clutch lasted with no problem for 136k miles when I sold it off to its second owner.

My advice- keep your foot off the clutch when you're not using it. In between shifting gears, put your left food on the dead pedal. While cruising- left foot on dead pedal.

This is in addition to the other great advice people have already mentioned like rolling on a hill, etc...

I had well over 100K miles on one clutch, and it was fine but the throw-out bearing failed first.

That Camaro probably didn't release the throw-out bearing all the way, and it probably was slipping anytime you drove it.
