GM, Let me Build a 2012

You cannot order a 2011 Camaro. Yet you go to Chevy to build one and they STILL have the dang 2011 up. Cannot build a 2012 BUT THAT is ALL you can order. Come on GM you Gov roots are showing...Same with others such as the GMC/Chevy truck....yes I know they are trying to push the 11s still on the lots but this is a build site not a find site...

edit: took off the dumb as GM must be holding for something major like paint colors or something...if not then it is .......

You can't really order from the website. The site is just there to be informative. If you really want some information one what's out there and what it costs to build, your best bet is always to pick a dealer and make a friend there. You need someone that has GM GlobalConnect up so you can do a locate and find what's really out there.

It's called reverse progress. They want you to actually go to the dealer like in the old days.

I don't know any dealers that come to you. At the end of the day, you can only buy your car from someone selling it. For people that want a new car, you've got to deal with a dealer. It's not always fun. It is always necessary. Someday, maybe we'll all be able to order from home or have a consultant come to us, but those days aren't here yet. If you want to see the current nationwide inventory, you need GM GlobalConnect. It is the most up-to-date tool that GM salespeople use, and you can only get access to the results from a dealer.

They could at least allow one to search 2012's in the Locate Vehicle area.

Brochures should be out very soon... maybe this week or next week (I remember a Chevy customer service rep on here mentioning that) and yes as far as I've read the website should be updated next month sometime. It is frustrating to me too. I realize they want to push 2011s but the supplies of them are dwindling (based on my observations from checking dealer websites). One local dealer has 14 2012s and 1 2011. It would do Chevy good to update their website with 2012 info and keep the 2011 info up as a sidebar. I've seen other manufacturers do that. In the mean time we can only look forward to the '12 brochure (still no price info however) in the coming days or weeks. By the way if anyone gets their hands on one, scan it in or post a link!

I find it odd, if that's true, that the cars are in people's driveway long before the advertising and websites are out there and active.

The sarcasm that The_Blur missed earlier is that years ago, in order to get the prices of the new cars, you either had to 1) wait for the monthly car rags to come out to get prices, or 2) actually go to the dealership and look at their information.

Today, you simply hop on the 'net and all that information (at least up until 2012 MY) is usually at your fingertips.

Not sure what the Gov had to do with it. Someone's listening to a little too much Rush Limbaugh. If not for the Gov investing in GM, there would be no 2012 Camaro. Seems to me that GM is heading in the right direction although they should be concentrating on vehicles powered by something other than the obsolete internal combustion engine. This cvountry doesn't have a foreign oil dependency problem, it has an oil dependency problem period.

I agree I went to get a 2011 summit white LT1 this past weekend and the closest one was 400 miles away. The dealer tried to push another color on me but that's another
Story. Not to mention out of the 25 camaros on the lot, 20 of them were SS. Now that would be fine for me if I didn't have student loans!!!!

Sadly, it's still the second best way to get any info. The first is obviously this website.

It is disappointing to see this one aspect of camaro marketing and communication unprepared and untimely. It does reflect badly on the organization.
