I would expect that it has better quality (meaning least one more coat of paint and two more coats of clear) that our standard CAMAROS.

Just this morning I was, AGAIN, at the detailing/paint shop getting a quote and an appointment to fix another couple of nicks (these ones in the front bumper) from debris falling from a construction truck I encountered in the highway.

O.k., I understand my car is a basic example (2SS) of the line up and as such some areas of manufacturing are skimpier (budget wise) to keep final price at a point.

I would expect/hope however that the upper levels of the model line have improvements in other areas besides performance oriented mechanicals.

I've read the interior of the ZL! will have suede or alcantara in some surfaces.

I'm curious on whether the paint and other exterior fiishings will also be above the standard CAMARO.

Safe driving to you all,

They arent going to do the paint any more special than the other camaros..

Its a ZL1...not a 80k+ dollar corvette...i think alot of people are forgetting that...and i bet there will be alot of people acting high and mighty treating everything under the zl1 inferior..based on alot of the comments i see on here..

Even the ZR1 goes through the same paint shop as a base 1LT Vette....

I would be willing to pay a premium for better paint.

the whole front bumper from top to bottom and the side gill area on the rear quarter panels.. the clear bra and splash guards work well together.

I don't want to pay 4,000 or more on a new paint job.
500 to 800 for a better factory paint job would be ok

A good repaint will cost north of $8K(like the Sunrise Gold they used on TF3 Bumble Bee, cost at least $8K if you want to repaint it to that color)

An extra grand or two for a extra good factory paint is probably a better option for most

@ nardox: you're right. A premium repaint costs approaches the $10k mark.

The same quality of paint if done at the factory, however, migh not add more that $3,000 to $4,000 to the end price, and this figure comes assumming a dual stage paint process separated by at least 24hrs like some european exotics.
I'm not requesting such a treatment, just an additional layer of paint and another one or two of clear, which will never approach the above mentioned extra cost.

@ 2012ZL1 : you are missing one critical concept here : "factory paint job".

As any restaureateur or automobile appraisser will tell you, no matter how good an aftermarket paint job is, it very very rarely adds to the value of the car, seldomly is considered a non issue and most of the time it immediately deppreciates the car's appraised worth.

I'm well aware that the CAMARO, regardless of how much it is loved by us, is not an exotic or super sports car, and therefore unlikely to receive the same factory aggregated value treatment.

Yet, as the price for the ZL1 bringsit closer to european models, these types of shortcomings will affect its perceived quality.

Safe driving to all,

The Flash
