Need traction suggestions.
Ok guys heres the deal, we got the car all together and on the dyno. Full Pfadt drag suspension, hendrix 9" conversion with 4.11's and the 2.9l Whipple. Problem is that even full strapped down and weight in the truck its blowing off the Hoosier 28x10 slicks. So we are looking to find the best setup to strap a 16" rim on the rear. What are our options right now for brakes and what exactly needs changed? Just rear rotor and caliper or is there more to the swap? Going with either bogart 16x10 or weld 16x10's and a good bit wider slick.

Have you considered launching in 2nd gear or a different rear axle....4.11s are pretty steep combined with SC torque. 2nd gear launch might be perfect.

Add weight to trunk, and add fat guys to the trunk edge. Thats what I did.

most dyno shops have a brake that can be set, are you sure your tech doesnt have it on, cause you should not have that problem under 700 hp with slicks. or maybe the slicks on the metal are the problem.

I did the full V6 brake swap so I could run 16" drag wheels as you want as much sidewall as you can get. You need the rotors, calipers, bolts and brake lines to complete the swap. What tire pressure are you running? what rpm are you leaving at? At 700hp you should have no issues hooking off the line. Have you installed adjustable coilovers? There is alot to launching these cars and it takes time to figure it out.

We use the dyno as a tuning tool and not always looking for a big number because at the end of the day it doesnt really matter if you cant use the power to its full potential. So many people are just looking for a way to brag!!!
I am not saying thats what boostedyard is trying to do, but suggesting take it to the track and make it work there. Also, I do succeed very well, thank you!! |

if u see where my numbers are on the fast list you know i dont care about numbers. i am trying to gain traction on the dyno to see where my powerband is so i know what tire size i need or if i should drop gearing. And yes you did come off as an ass. and no my dyno doesn't have a loaded eddy current style brake. I just had a feeling with the 6speed manual the 10" wide slicks may not have been enough.

An ass it is , problem is using a small slick on a dyno with any amount of horsepower doesnt work well. If you use a slick on the dyno you better make sure cool them done before you make another pull. No back to back pulls or you will blow the rubbber right off. I know from experience.
