Who has been called by OnStar after drag racing? Is there a thread on that?

They will talk to police and disable your vehicle, if the cop asks.

I have had my ONSTAR HARDWARE rewired and disabled so it doesn't work..

I guess I'll be doing the same to my truck and the wife's car.
Your vehicle must be documented as stolen, or else OnStar won't disable it, even if the police ask.

The only video I've seen is the Hennessy one and the only reason Onstar called was because of the amount of G's pulled (.99). Onstar thought the car was in an accident. They didn't care that the car was on a track.

As someone who writes software for a living... you know that this process can be automated, which would require very little human interaction? There's just never been an incentive to do so because a large dataset like this has never been available.

I'm not trying to turn this into a paranoia debate.... playing devil's advocate.

GM, onstar going to far

Just saw this article on wired about how onstar continues to track your car even after you cancel the service.

http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/201...ar-tracks-you/

This is bs and should be illegal.

What makes them think they have the right to do this. They don't own the gps chip in my car. They run a service and when that service is over they shouldn't be allowed to continue to track you and then sell this tracking data to whoever wants it.
The article says you can call them and opt out but that's bullshit too. The vast majority of people won't even know they need to opt out.

Nice job GM. I will promptly be looking in the DIY section on how to remove the onstar modual, because I seriously doubt they will actually stop tracking you if you request. After all there is no way to prove they did or didn't.

Just like they dont track you when you use your email? Just like they dont track you when you use your credit card? This will open a can of worms but just saying....

You don't have to be hiding anything to not want someone stalking you.

I'm pretty sure if there was a guy following you around everywhere you went you wouldn't like it either. If some random guy can't do it why should GM be allowed to do it.
