I saved 2K off my 2011 with my card. They are constantly changing the incentives based upon what card you have.

Those that might not know, the GM Card is owned by HSBC and HSBC is selling the GM Card to Capital1 with in the year. I have GM card through HSBC right now and don't know what the rates will be with Cap1.

i got rid of the gm card after they started limiting the earnings you could use. ive had the card since 2004. when i bought my latest camaro they only let me use 1000 of my 3500 points. if cars are selling well gm will only allow minimum earnings to be used on that vehicle. i got the chase freedom card and i am much happier.

I got $2,000 off my 1Lt with my card. I'd say the Card is worth it if you were going to spend that money anyway.

Interesting. I have mixed opinions on Capital One.

I used to like them, I had a 9.9% card with them back when it was unheard of for personal credit to be in the single digits. And I used their "no fee" checks regularly.

But I accidentally wrote a check once that went $300 over my limit. I called Capital one to ask them to raise the limit before the check cleared and they would NOT do it, despite a perfect payment history over a decade long. So I got to pay overdraft fees for a few months until I paid it down. Then they told me the card would be closed. I figured, "Fine. F-you. I have other cards I can use anyway."

So I paid off the balance, and now Capital One keeps mailing me "Please come back" fliers in the mail. HEY! YOU CANCELED ME!!1!1 Dumbaxes.

I will say however, that GM Card is the very worst card, for the interest rate of any card that I've ever used. I think mine is 22% or 23%.You *MUST* pay it off monthly for the points to be worth it. I think the crummy rate is an effort to push the "Old Card" people to give up and go away.

Yes, it is worth it!! Back in July, I had +/-$1,500.00 in GM Card Earnings and I received notice from GM that they were going to double my Earnings to $3,000.00 off of ANY GM vehicle, no matter what the current redemption limits were. I had been waiting and waiting and waiting on the right time to buy my next Camaro and that was now the time. Now in addition, I also had another $1,000.00 discount available to me because we owned a 09 Pontiac and GM had this "Loyalty" type of discount available as well. So to make the story short, these two discounts combined gave me an additional $4,000.00 discount off of the best price I could negotiate, which was over more than $2,000.00 off MSRP. Bottom line, a $40,000.00 2011 Camaro for $34,000.00 plus tax, etc. Yes, the GM CARD IS WORTH IT!

Also, they continuously do this "double your earnings" deal. Since I have had my GM Card, which has been over 10 years, I have redeemed more than $12,000.00 in earning towards the purchase of new GM vehicles. If you have a credit card, and almost everyone does, why not go GM Card?? It is one of the best reward cards there is as far as I am concerned. That is my $.02.

With a GM card, do you get discounts on Official GM products?

I think that's one flexibility for the current Card. The "old terms" were strictly for purchases. No special deals on GM parts, or leases.

When I read the terms, it states cannot be combined with any other discounts.
Well through work I get employee discount pricing, which is equal to the max I could put towards a camaro.
So it would be pointless for me.

it's probably not worth it right now if you're in the market for a camaro, since you would have to spend a lot to get any back...and then the question of "why didn't you just spent the money on the car instead of the card" would pop up.

the only thing i don't like about the card is that you may not want to buy a GM in 5+ years...

I have points to sell if anyone is interested. Under old plan so no restrictions. Have used twice before for my Suburban and a car my sister bought. Never sold them though which is what I need to do this time. Have $3400 roughly and would like to get $2200 for them. Let me know if interested or if you have any experience to share on how this would work.
