About 2 years ago I was able to drive a vette off the showroom floor..(it had just been sitting there and I just happened to be at the right place and at the right time to do it.) I was still drooling for the camaro. But how can you pass up a chance to drive a vette? Anyway I took it out with the sales guy. The car had 6 miles on it. It was Black on Black 6pd manual. This car put you in your seat quick. I was actually in a good enough financial position to buy it (finance) at the time. And I almost did. I was approved for the loan and all I had to do was sign the papers. I had my wife come up there I didn't tell her why I just told her I needed to talk to her. Well there I was sittin in front of the dealership in a brand new vette when she was pulling up. She started shaking her head and walked over. "You know if you get this now you can't get the camaro that I have heard about non stop." It did it right there. i wasn't really thinking about the camaro when I was in the vette but as soon as she said that I changed my mind pretty quick. So it really just comes down to what you want. I wanted the camaro. and might be a good thing I didn't get it then. But if you got the cash to buy it and you will get a camaro next year well why not?

It's a tough choice. I've traveled extensively in both cars. Camaro is quieter, more comfortable all day long. It will do about 9/10ths of everything the Vette will do.
Vette is faster to 60 and 1/4 mile, has a higher top speed, and will brake and corner better than a Camaro. And if that's what you want then you will get a great, great car. But the Camaro is more comfortable, quieter roomier and you can seat 4 in a pinch and has more trunk space. Newer design and until the that newness wears off you will be like the "husband of a rockstar" as Camaropete put it. And even with the good deals, you'll pay a bit more. Now in the Vette you can get some options that the Camaro doesn't have. NAV radio, power adjustable passenger seat, performance exhaust (must get the switch) and HUD for now, and keyless entry and ignition. Plus MR shocks oh yeah and the targa roof as long as you aren't in a Z06. Tough call, but right now I'd get the Camaro. Love em both though.

I bought an 09 Coupe, and they are supercars. Here's what I did... Search for 2008 Corvette reviews on google. Those reviews detail all the improvements. I would not buy older than 2008. LS3, much better steering, huge interior upgrade, and more. 2009 = improved active handling software and hardware, variable rate steering, chrome rather than silver badges...woo hoo! 2010's will start production soon, in June, unless they change it because of the recession. Corvette Forum is your best source for everything Corvette. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-corvette-2005-14/ If you can get a Camaro later too, get the Vette, it's plastic fantastic!

The 5th Gen Camaro is a great car.

If you need or have to have back seats, get a Camaro, otherwise the Corvette is just a no brainer. I don't care if this is a Camaro forum, the Vette smokes the Camaro everywhere it counts. Quicker, faster, lighter, better handling, better braking better looking, way more street cred, universal appeal, welcome anywhere.....
I had one, great experience. Sorry, the Camaro is no match for the real american icon.

I love my C6 and now I am just waiting to put a Camaro next to it. I have never owned a car that makes me think "Is that really mine?" 2 years later I still can't believe it. Now I just need the black Camaro beside the red Vette. They are both great cars. As said before depends mostly if you need a back seat or not.

I'm a die hard f-body guy and I've had 7 since 1995. I've had an 04 z06 , a couple of gto's and a couple of mustang gt's. Currently I'm driving a 2005 c6. I also have a Camaro on order which should be here in about a month. It is a very difficult choice, and I'm hoping an easier one to make once I drive a camaro. What can you say about the corvette, other than its the complete package. It does everything very, very well. The only negative is the 2 seats. Other than that, its personal preference. Once you drive the corvette for a while, you get very comfortable with it. It is a beautiful car that performs perfectly. I don't think the corvette will depreciate as fast as the camaro will only because they are going to mass produce the camaro. The 2008's had an interior upgrade and the ls3. There is a significant difference between the ls2 and ls3 that you can easily feel when driving both side by side. The ls3 felt like my old z06. It pulls very hard, but the ls2 is no slouch. The ls2 is more than enough for the average joe. Now is a very good time to buy a good used c6 because the market is in the toilet. As far as problems with the early c6's, I haven't had any problems with mine. I would try to find an 07 with low mileage, because that is where you're gonna get the best deal. As far as new... Yeah, they've got some good deals, but around here, a 1lt will run you about 44 to 45k without a lot of the luxury items like heated seats, nav, z51 etc.. Start adding some options and your easily over 50k. That is a sharp contrast to 30k. Lastly, the vette is not due for an update til 2014, so its not like your buying an outdated body style. Hope this helps..

I have to say the Camaro is a better choice for me. I have 2 kids so I like having 4 seats. The Camaro is a fresh design that sticks out when you see one on the road. You get a LOT of car for the money in a Camaro. 9/10's of a Vette's performance for about half the price and twice the seating capacity.
Vettes are everywhere - you do not crane your neck to look at them. They are rather common. I have priced out a Vette and with all the options I would want, the car is expensive. I could afford it and the wife says we would "have to have museum delivery" so you know she is up for it. All that is great but I drool over the Camaro and not on the Vette. A ZR-1 I would drool on and love to own but the super high cost makes it a non-issue. I just will not pay that for a Corvette, even if I could pay for it. BTW - I have an old Vette and an old Camaro. The Camaro gets a lot more miles put on it. ![]() -Mark. |

Vette, no contest. It's the flagship for a reason.
