The original accusation that was made was that OnStar is invading people's privacy. And so far, I haven't seen any proof that this is going on. So, right now, it's just a conspiracy theory.
That may be true ,but it had nothing to do with me asking a simple question as to how do we know that they really turned it off if you end your contract.
I never accused Onstar of anything.

Eh I don't even know why I bothered writing that, you've obviously put me on your ignore list because you can't have an intelligent conversation and instead make a comment about how peoples opinions are uneducated.
Ignoring people is for the weak minded and thin skinned IMO.

Off topic ,but I always thought it was kind of weird for someone to block seeing someone else's posts. Are they afraid that seeing them will somehow make them dumber or maybe better yet that there are hidden messages that might cause them to murder their family in their sleep. I really don't get it.

The act itself means different things to different people. Publicly announcing that you have ignored another person is a display of Internet bravado...a virtual high five among folks who are hiding feelings of inadequacy and a secret lack confidence.

Some people are just incredibly naive.

I'll gladly wear my tinfoil hat, and show you where things are done quite illegally quite often.

Good grief, it's no wonder we are where we are.

My issue was the extreme take on it, that this was now the government tracking you, watching you, OnStar ratting on you, Insurance companies following you etc. If that were really true, then this post wouldn't exist because they would not have stopped it.

You see how quickly it got squashed, and the reason is exactly what I said, they want to MAKE MONEY any way they can, if they could have gotten away with this they would have sold the marketing data and made money, instead they see it pissed off their customers and they would be losing current and future subscriptions, so they got rid of it.

All they care about is people writing them that $300 check every year, or the even bigger check a marketing company would write to them. They could give a crap how fast you're going, where your office is, or how often you stop off at your mistresses house.

People with uninteresting lives just want to believe that the government cares what they're up to at all hours of the day so they feel needed.

And some people are just functionally retarded.

Hint - it isn't about what what they now do, it's about the capabilities. But don't let us "uninteresting" people cloud you up with actual facts. Go on believing in that apple pie ideal.

You do realize that they can still do it, and sell it to the government while claiming this very thing, yes?

Yes, because the government is going to send Apache attack helicopters if OnStar tells them you're driving 1mph over the speed limit.

I just can't see wasting my life living under a cloud of paranoia.
