I chuckled a little when I read the first post of this thread.

My wife just bought us a Dyson pet model, but she found website and bought a refurbished one for about $300. It works great. If you want to save a little cash, a refub model might not be a bad idea.

We have an Oreck. They are pricey too. But they are very good and have a great warranty usually cover service to for 5 or 8 years ( I think). We have a Golden Retriever and it gets the job done.

I had a Kirby once....I would say not worth the money!!! Nope, I'm at Camp Phoenix in Kabul, but travel all over the country.

I hate cleaning out vacuum cleaners. The Dirt Devil I have now has a filter, so whenever I have to dump out all the dirt, the filter takes forever to clean off and it gets dusty and messy and it's annoying.

Do the Dyson vacuums clean out easily?

Buy him the vacuum. I bought one because my dogs are heavily furred and so is everything I own. The Dyson is amazing. I bought myself one (as well as a Camaro) and they are soooo worth it. Tell him to get the purple one. It's set up for pet hair.
Edit: They clean up easy, and have some great features.

He wants the Dyson DC28 Animal...it is the newest one they have and is $649 on the Dyson website, but gonna check around, I am sure I can get it a little bit cheaper.
