What he is saying is, the average joe, which is the regular purchaser for the Camaro line, cannot afford it if it is 58 - 60 k.
Its kind of like building a 35,000.00 Cobalt. It can be done, but why?

^^Thank you.

This is just a car forum, so I just want to say this: There is no such thing as a "armed forces card". We don't desire any sympathy and no one has been drafted since Vietnam. I lead and serve by choice. At the end of 2011, I will have spent 230 days from my wife and family. I am just hoping when I get home I can put a ZL1 in the garage. All I am saying is that if Chevy would make the ZL1 a 50k car instead of 65k, I could stretch far enough to own one. Thanks,

Granted, it's really none of my business, but if you're having to stretch to buy a $50k car, maybe your family would be better off in the long run if your spending priority wasn't a car.

Again, thank you for your service, but as you stated, you chose a career that makes it difficult for you to buy the toys you want to put in your toy box. If GM were looking for high volume sales for the ZL1, I'm sure they would have done things differently and the price would be in a lower range.

I am not a race car driver and I dont pretend to be one, just a regular guy that has owned camaros and loves the looks of the new 5th gen and would like to have one with a little extra somthing.

40K will buy a loaded ss, when I start getting anywhere close to doubling that, a little voice in the back of my mind starts asking if im crazy.

As much as i love this car, I have to be able to rationalise the price in order to sleep at night.

All ready don't drink. So as it sits right now I have no vises so the ZL1 will fill the need for a vise.

I don't have a horse in this race, I've modded my SS the way I want it and I have the price of a second SS in it.

I get that a lot of people are worried about the ZL1 being priced out of their reach and I can only imagine the disappointment that thought must invoke. However, IMHO I don't think that GM intends for this to be a car for the masses nor do I think they plan on building 50K units a year. If you look at the GT500 sales for 2009, they sold 4130 units. Want a Camaro? pick one that falls within your price range and financial capabilities, LS, 1LT, 2LT, 1SS, 2SS, (Z28 maybe?) or a ZL1. If the issue is you have the money but think it is too much, step to one side because the guy behind you in line has his check book and pen in hand.

GM will have no problem finding buyers more than willing to pay 55-60K for this car each and every year the car remains in production. As ugly and unfair as that may seem, we do live in a Capitalist society. You buy what you can afford, not everyone who wanted a COPO back in 1969 owned one.

Me too. Even my $52,500 vote was a wishful thinking vote, as I really am starting to accept a $55,000+ range.
