Just an observation. I know chevy does have this figured out already but it does make one wonder about that big gaping hole on top of the hood.
It will no doubt take in LOTS of water when the car is parked or being driven in a heavy thunderstorm. There is no way around it. Big hole, the water has to go some place. I suspect passing rain water would go straight to the ground as it passes in front of the engine inside the engine bay. But, I can see one side of the hood is sectioned off for what it looks like isolation to pass air into the breather duct work. The air intake tube looks to have two large holes to allow cooler air to partially inter the system. Maybe someone that has seen the mighty ZED EL ONE in person with the hood up can comment on this more. I realize there are baffles, filters, and one knows not what from preventing water from entering the air intake system, but it don't take much water to make things act up as far as performance. Is there 110% guarantee while the car is running 60 MPH down the road in a heavy thunderstorm or even idling at a red light in a heavy thunderstorm there is no danger of water causing a performance issue? Cold 30 degree water being dumped right on top of an engine running 190 to 220 degrees temperature etc?

This was discussed in another thread and the writers stated that Chevy and other auto manufactures spend a lot of time hydro testing their vehicles to keep water out of the engines and vehicle interiors. If they put a large hole in the hood for heat extraction I am pretty sure that rain water was taken into consideration also. If not, that is what the warranty is for. I really do not mean to shoot you down but if engineers did not take something like rain getting the engine into consideration, the car is really going to have major problems. I just do not see that happening.

Those aren't holes in the intake tube. The intake is completely sealed up and no air can get in without going through the air filter in the air box.

I'll be driving my Rain or Shine. It's a Camaro not a freaking Ferrari and even if I had a Ferrari I wouldn't hesitate to drive it as much as I could. Being a garage queen is about as cool as being a drag queen

I think you'd be amazed at the validation exercises we put our cars and trucks thru --
In layman terms: We try to drown them by blowing water and ice and snow at them in massive quantities - for hours on end. While I have not seen any of the recent tests, I recall one with the 4th Gen SS where we blew snow into the front of the car at high speeds for hours - to the point where there was massive ice buildup - all to ensure that the mighty LS1 V8 would not ingest water or ice under severe conditions. THat's also why I cringe when I look under the hood at many Camaros and Firebirds - and see 'modifications' to the air intake......... One of the things that I have always respected about SLP is that they would validate to our standards......

Modern intakes are very well designed and engineered to keep water out. Quick example from something that isnt a camaro. My last vehicle was a 08 wrangler. 100% stock. Within a week of owning it I had it in water over top of the hood for a period of 3 seconds. Not a splash.....fully submerged. Not a drop of water inside the cabin, not a spot of moisture on the filter. This happened three times in the course of my ownership with the same results. It is for that reason I refused to modify the intake at all.

I think there are more recent photos of finished inlet hoses, but those are not holes. The MAF is just after tge airbox which means from there to the TB is completely sealed to the atmosphere, but not for PCV function.
ZL1 will have no problems with water injestion.
