Yeah down shifting is over rated.

That comment starts me thinking about the other uber-hype'd Pony in management... . If ZL1 could at least match Z06, what does that say about the car who's keys you can't even get?...

All depends on what the definition of "owns" is. The Z06 remains faster at the 'ring, with the Z07 package and cup tires (I believe) running about 20 seconds faster.

But that brings up the interesting challenge of the 'ring. The Z07 ran ONLY 2 to 3 seconds behind the ZR1. So if the Z07 had the same tires, suspension annnnnd brakes then why is the 150 HP advantage in the ZR1 not more than a few seconds? Is it simply the Z07 weighing a bit less? Just makes me go "hmmmmmmmmmm".

I wonder how close they would be if they were both running the better cup tires?

And carbon ceramic disc brakes, which cuts about 40lbs of unsprung weight and are bullet proof.

I thought the Carbon Ceramic brakes were heavier?

nope, on the zr1 they cut about 11lbs per corner. carbon ceramic brakes are much lighter than iron or steel.

I would prefer to keep the the Carbon Ceramic brakes off because they will never make it to the ZL1. BUT... the tire change would be easy and be more of heads up comparison between the ZL1 and the Z06. The ZL1 might not beat the Z06 primarily because of the 600 pound weight difference but it would be interesting to see how close the ZL1 could get in a heads up race.
