Yeah but what your forgetting is thats the Z06 with the Z07 package and the cup tires on it. The ZL1 ran that time without cup tires. I'm sure if you put cup tires on the ZL1 it would run it very very similarly. And I think the ZL1 will beat the Z06 Vette in a drag race for sure due to the traction management and eveyrything plus the horsepower advantage that the ZL1 has over the Vette.

The Z06/Z07 also has PTM, weighs aprroximately 800 lbs less (based on the ZL1 tipping the scales at of slightly over 4k) and has an extra inch of tire out back. ZL1 is an awesome car, Z06 is a supercar. ZR1, hyper-car!!

We will see but they havent released the weight of the ZL1 yet have they? It's going to be power vs. weight we will see what happens. I didnt realize the Z06 had ptm too I knew the ZR-1 did and it weighs 3,333 pounds but didnt know the Z06 did too.

PTM is new to the Z06/Z07 package for 2012. AS far as weight, no, offical weight has not been announced, and the guesstimate is purely my own, but I have a feeling I am not far off.

Says, the ZL1 gonna' be really expensive or the Z06 might as well retire or become the poor mans sports car, or the new Z06 is going to be the ZR1 and there's going to be another corvette coming to market.
You can't sell a Z06 for $80k, and have a $50k vehicle walk it on a track, not going to go over to well with your consumers.

The base corvette for next generation is said to be in the z06 power range, as the z06 is supposed to be near the current zr1's.

Excellent points. However, pointing to Z07 'Vettes then almost render those not as relavent. There's too much to learn yet

I almost find some of these statements hard to believe. I'm not questioning where you're coming from so much as where Corvette is now, in terms of performance, power, and motors. If they go lighter, they're not going to need almost 650 horsepower to go just as fast, though, ZR1 isn't exactly porky; there are certainly porkier ones out there. If there is a shift like you're saying, then ZL1 could fit in there better. I still conflict with people being on the fence between a CAMARO and 'Vette - it seems more polar than that in my mind. That's JMVHO though

I believe the ZL1 with cup tires would run low 7:30's and in a drap race if you have someone like ranger or jamie furman in a Z06 then you dont have a chance. Jamies been 10's stock and rangers been 10's on DR. If its your average joe in a Z06 that can halfway drive then they'll prob run mid to high 11's. I have seen people run 12's but more than lickly if its at sea level and the air is good and they can drive then mid 11's are likly. Hard to say about the ZL1 with out any evidence yet. All speculation but I think she will run high 11's stock and mid to low 11's with DR. It all depends on the DRIVER MOD.

Probaly closer to 800lbs.
