people are assuming the suv didn't have passengers. and there is clearly an open spot to the left of the stairs.

I do my best to park away from other cars. I'm paranoid of door dings and getaway shopping carts. If theres plenty of open spaces I'll use two, why not. By the looks of your photo though I would say this guy wanted to protect his Ford and knew you wouldn't be doing anything to give him a door ding so he parked next to you in the same fashion. He felt safe next to you. Like minded, thats the type of person you want to park next to you.

I think its funny.. there's the possibility that someone went out of there way just to park next to you. It is a Ford though..

get some orange cones and keep them in the trunk, block off the space next to you, sure it's overkill but do it till they tell you to stop or someone takes your cones. worth a shot.. I am one of those people that parks in left field and walks as far as it takes!

After having two prior camaros to the 2011, I too park as far out as possible and dont like having people parked next to me. It is irritating when you go thru the trouble of parking in the very back and leaving all those front spaces open and still have someone come and park next to you on purpose. I worked in retail for 11 years and my Z28 took a beating from it. My side morror was hit in the parking lot and a huge gouge of Green paint was left and whoever did it just drove off and didnt care. When you have a nice expensive car of course you want to protect it and keep it nice and forking out hundreds of dollars in repair bills all the time to keep your vehicle looking its best sucks.

Anyone else would have just pulled in straight (or crooked) and thrown it in park.
Amen, next time leave a note of THANKS to the person for protecting your car.

Today, at work I had a ford mustang park behind me. Yea, right... thats where he belongs... LOL.... Truthfully I park at the back of a parking lot on one of the outside spots. No one ever says anything and I do expect others to park next to me. I do worry about door dings but what can one do. Also my car is only a V6 and I worry about it. Hell you have a 2SS 45th cost X2 more than mine or 1.5. If I were you I wouldnt even park it. haha.. JK, lovely car you have!!!
