Giant sized electronics store, selling everything from pre-built computers and TVs, to every computer component needed to custom build a PC and tons of circuitry that can be used to build robotics and all sorts of devices... It was always a challenge to go into that store and come out without buying something...

Best Buy's extended warranties are a joke. I had a similar problem with a laptop where it's hinges broke within a couple months. I used it mostly as a desktop and never dropped it. they called it wear and tear too and said it wouldn't be covered. Complete BS. Never bought anything that was over $20 from best buy again. Going on 10 years now. I can find better warranties on the internet now these days anyway.

But the best warranty I ever had from a store was CompUSA. It covered everything except intentional damage and theft on my pda. 2.5 years into the warranty, my battery was only lasting a few hours and they gave me a newer model PDA for free. No hassle.

oh and the name "Best Buy" is horribly misleading. They charge more for just about everything than any other large chain if it's not on sale. They specialize in electronics, they should be able to charge less than Sears or Target...

Def heaven on earth for geeks.

I still have friends that work at best buy. It doesn't look good for them anyways. So give it another year or two. We will most likely will not be seeing them.

That's good! I miss Circuit City! I use to go there for all my audio needs on my cars. The workers were 16 but they knew their stuff and always made me a happy camper

Make them define how many times if plugging it in and out is considered normal wear.

Then say you only plug it in and out 4 times.

Me too..

Though I did buy my last computer, instead of building it myself like I usually do. I can't complain though, because I went with the best gaming computer company out there (and has been for 15+ years) called Falcon Northwest.

If you want to talk about best customer service, look into them. They have always been exceptional as far as support.

Any electronic device I've dealt with.... and cable port is always considered wear and tear. It makes sense. It takes a lot of abuse over time. It would be different if the camera was bought in September... but since February?

Part of the reason my cameras all have rechargeable batteries and removable storage cards, and my computer has built-in card readers.

I boycotted B@*& B^& 4 years ago and havent been back since. I asked for a price match on a new TV, showing them the Frys ad that had the same model for $400 cheaper. The sales rep said, "Hell no", I waiting in line at the customer service line for 30 mins, and she said... "Ummmmm, I have to call and verify the price", which she couldnt, even though I had the newspaper in my hand. She called the manager, (22-23 year old kid) and he told me to "Get the F#$% out of my store, Im not selling you a TV at that price!"

I called their 800 # and explained. THey offered my a $400 gift card if I went back in and bought the TV. I said "NO THANK YOU, I'll go to Frys and spend all the extra money on HDMI cables, BLuRays etc, and I will make sure and spend A LOT".

And I did! LOL

UPDATE

So I decided to still fight my case with Best Buy. After listening to a few more opinions from people I know. This time I figure I would send my mom in. I don't like leaving my 65 year old mom dealing with issues of mine but figured maybe they don't like talking with blondes:( So we went to a different Best Buy store. I sat in my camaro did not want to argue with more people. She comes back out to my car the Geek Squad took my camera. If I don't receive my camera back in two weeks I go pick up a brand new one. I'm JUST happy I won my case but when you purchase a product with a extended warranty they should honor it. I can see if I ran it over or dropped it but I have not been physically violent with it

OP, glad it sounds like BestBuy is finally stepping up to the plate for you...but that is one reason I never buy the extended warranty...they will try to worm their way out of it if you need to use it.....
