Dropped mine off in Orlando today...

Spoke to my original salesman and Service Dept manager. He took detailed notes on all my "issues" and advised the GM regional Rep (who helped fix the Cutless drop-top design flaws back in the day) was coming in tomorrow to inspect my issues.

I was told to expect another new top... (pretty good record going here, my latest top was only 2.5 weeks old...) This will make #4 for the car.

I feel confident their gonna get it right this time... if the numbers posted on another thread were correct, this is now $10,000 in convertible tops on this car. But at least it sounds like they care and aren't just pushing it off to get me out the door.

I pointed out the rub marks/indents (that are still there) as well as the rear seat issue...

Hoping for a good outcome this time...

Good news from the Orlando camp today. There's a GM Field engineer from Orlando and another from Tennessee working on my car. They're using a new 12' for reference points as they tweak things. Looks as though I may not need another (4th) new top, its supposedly close to being fixed! The initial reports I'm getting is basically common senese- the top replacement was originally sent to a local trim shop who had no training on these cars and therefore messed it up... now its being reworked properly and (fingers crossed) should be returned shortly. Appearantly, as I'm being told, GM hasn't had many oppertunities to get to work on a car reporting these issues, so I'm the test subject. Not thrilled about being a Guinea pig, but hopefully its done right once and for all, and helps others in the same boat.

Good Luck Man!

If this time doesn't make it right, might want to consider a road trip to Michigan and have Becky's people fix it right.

Again, good luck. You deserve some.

Talking ITS FINALLY FIXED!!!!!

OK guys- you've all heard my story... Just got it back from the Orlando dealer I'd originally purchased it from, after dropping it off for severe wind noise and the top seperating from the frame at the rear seal- I'm VERY glad to report- ABSOLUTELY ZERO WIND NOISE AT 95 MPH!!!!!!!! Im supposed to have a conference call with the GM Tech Tuesday to give my review as well as have them explain what they did.

What the salesman (who spearheaded this whole thing for me) told me, and what I could plainly see- is that they tightened the HELL outta the top- what once was loose and kinda baggy with a few "bumps" now has less marks than a college cheerleaders a$$! IT's tight! and SILENT!

The rub marks are brushed out, and it appears they may have moved the clips over even more as there's more seperation from the inside than I remember.... the bows are significantly more visible than they were on the last 2 tops... been so long, I really cant remember the original anymore... I mean... the top is TIGHT! But NO noise whatsoever, and doesn't appear a chance in hell of the sides popping out again!

Like I mentioned in an earlier post, they had a brand new 2012 camaro in the bay next to mine while they worked, compared, tweaked and test drove... nearly 30 miles of testing, but it seems to have paid off! I can FINALLY enjoy my car!

Hallelujah!! I bring mine back (for the 7th time) next Friday for new cables and rear weather stripping. The GM rep said that I had too much play in my cables and that the roof wasn't tight enough. I pray that i am as fortunate as you. Enjoy your ride, you've certainly paid enough for it.

Keep us posted if they fix it. Man, seems like this is making it worse rather than fixing anthing.

Drago, I'm glad yours is finally looking like it fixed. I have mine going in this week with a GM rep on site to make sure all TSBs are done correctly. Seem like your guys found the trick of making sure it is tight !
Being in New England I'm hoping for a few more top down days before the snow flys. :-)

Even a Coupe has a lot of stuff that can go wrong, I know I have one. I wouldn't give up all the great stuff my 2011 vert has over my 69 vert !
Love the car, just hate the top problem.
Y'all have beautiful cars. Get a tune,,headers,,,,, cai and slicks. Bring it to the drags. Go pick up your time slip and you will forget about all the petty BS. When it pulls that hard you seem to forget all the other crap!!!!!!!!!!!!! Only bad thing about it you'll get kicked out for not having a roll cage. 13.4 must have a cage. You'll probably be at mid to low 12's. You will not hear any road or wind noise after that and some how your eyes won't focus on those rub marks on your top !!!!!!!!!!!!! Enjoy your car.

That's all good in theory, but the problem is its not just an unsightly spot, its the beginnings of a hole... in the roof! Equate it to the start of a rust stain in your roof.. starts as a discoloration, eventually erodes the metal away to a whole and now you have a leak... same principal. Unfortunately, if its ignored until it becomes a full on hole, than we have to worry about GM challenging the defect as "normal wear", limits our ability to mod as it can be construed as us causing the defect, and lastly- we paid $35-45k we shouldn't have to repeatedly experience this. Just my $.02 as a victim
